Have you been to the Linc to watch the Cowboys play? I just ask because I have tickets for my son, my daughter's boyfriend and myself in December.

Yep. I used to go every year, but eventually got sick of it. It's a fun environment and the stadium is better than people give it credit for. Just be prepared to get a lot of ribbing from the locals...most of them do it in a good-natured way, but occasionally you'll run into some drunk/dumb Eagles fans that take it too far (I got a beer thrown on me once).

Luckily, Cowboys fans travel very well to Philly for whatever reason, so you'll definitely find some like-minded individuals. You'll have a great time, especially if the Cowboys win. There's nothing better than watching 70,000 dejected Eagles fans ***** and moan after getting whipped at home. :)

When you quoted me, where did I mention bars?

If you want to quote me on something, at least critique something in that quote that was being said for the sake of healthy debate.

I do not watch football in bars. I have never watched football in a bar. I also don't plan on watching football in a bar, as long as Dallas has those infamous debacle games.

What I will do: I will gladly connect my laptop to my television, where I can see any game that I want to in HD by streaming off of a website for free.

I feel that it is wasteful to spend money on something that you can get for free.

What's so hard to understand about that?

Pardon me for quoting you and responding to the thread in general. I hate when people do that to me. But I was responding specifically to your post as well. I disagree with your general assertion that Sunday Ticket isn't worth paying for. For the sake of healthy debate, you cannot get from a streaming site what you can get from Sunday Ticket. For many of us, we're talking about way more than four games. We're talking about the guarantee that our game will be there, in 720p/1080i (FOX/CBS), without having to worry about the inconsistency of internet streaming. I like flipping channels to other games during commercials and halftime. Some of us don't have broadband internet anyway, and some of us who do have broadband internet either don't have the bandwidth to stream reliably without a bunch of annoying data buffering (my sister for one) or just want to sit down and turn the game on without messing around with our computers. For me, it's well worth the money to have the guarantee of all those games in HD and at my fingertips, Sunday in and Sunday out, when 1:00 rolls around. Like I said, ST may not be worth the money to you, but to a lot of us it is.

I tried that in 2010. After having to go to the bar 5 of the 1st 8 games I just broke down and got Sunday ticket again.

This year, so far, only SF will has been broadcast on Sunday afternoon for me. And this week will not be broadcast either. I live in Colts country. Colts home games screw me on the Fox double header Sundays and when the Cowboys play on CBS.
I can understand the home team priority if it's the same networkand time slot. The double header cancellation on the opposite network is stupid though.

What's the doubleheader cancellation? Serious question.

If the local market team plays on the opposite network of the double header, then the double header network will only show one game in the opposite time slot. For instance, I currently live in Charlotte. CBS has the double header but the Panthers play on Fox at 1:00, so CBS cannot show the first game, only the 4:00 game, so the Cowboys game (or any other game) will not be shown even though it is the national game on CBS in the first slot.

Spill the beans.

Sure, I call dtv and tell them that swapping to Comcast (or insert other cable company) and would like to set up a disconnection day, you will need to talk to the Retention Department. They will ask why and I tell them that the only reason I have dtv is because of the Sunday Ticket and since I can no longer afford it I moving over. They will start to lower the price, maybe take half off but still tell them that it's too much. I will tell them if they can give it to me for free then I will remain a customer and that usually works.

Outside of primetime games it only works out when Dallas has a national game that's on the same channel, opposite time slot, or national game opposite time slot, opposite channel. And of course if Dallas was playing the Panthers.

Hopefully the new FCC ruling will help eliminate this as well. Just show all the scheduled games and let the people decide what to watch.

If you call on the 1st of the month then set up disconnection date on the end of the same month so you will have time to call back and get another customer service rep. The csr are different some will give discounts easily and others won't it just depends, if they don't give you what you want by the disconnection day just call and cancel the disconnect.

I agree. I assume it had to do with the local affiliate and advertising dollars and such.

If that's the case, then the local networks would be making the assumption that if there is only one game on, that's what everyone will watch. That would be a bad assumption with more options to watch other games.

When does this take effect? I'm in the NY area and they blacked out the first game of the double header here, so we get no 1PM game, which everyone surrounding this area is getting Dallas/Houston, according to the maps.

You can also listen to the games. I watch the ones that are televised, if it's not, I watch NFL redzone with the volume off and listen to ESPN online, the subscription cost I believe $10 for the season. I get to listen to either teams broadcast, I like to switch to the opponents broadcasters if the Cowboys get updates by a bunch.

There is nothing scheduled yet, but there has been some speculation.
