Tony D was my favorite player at that time.
I met his ex wife of all places at a Sears store in the Palm Beach Gardens Mall. Can't recall the year, but Anthony Dorsett was still in college before being drafted. So maybe 1993.
She even had some photo's, of TD and TD's son Anthony and TD's heisman trophy was is the background.
Anthony was not the son from his marriage to this woman, as they weren't married until the early 80's, if I remember from what she told me.

She knew a lot about different players and such. As we talked, and then eventually showed me the photos. She said she usually did not tell people this, but I had on my cowboys t-shirts and hat, and being in Dolphins territory, and that the Cowboys finally got back to winning and getting a SB. she opened up a bit after talking.

I actually met Tony he was signing autographs at a car dealership in CT
real nice guy, but I am appalled he's ranked 77th certainly deserves to
be treated with more respect than this

I met Tony and Drew Pearson at the ESPN restaurant opening at the Disney Boardwalk back in the late 90's. I was amazed how small he was. I asked him if he missed football. "Hell no," he said. Drew loved talking about his playing days, had some great stories.

BTW - it was an open bar and both Drew and Tony were absolutely hammered but very nice.

I used to see Dorsett out and a lot of the same places back in my single days in the early 90s.
He was always friendly. We shared a few laughs for sure.
I tried to not discuss football with him but it wasn't easy....he was truly a great player.

Miss watching him play. That is when football was real, and not watered down as it is today

Met in New Orleans after his rookie year.
Seemed like a well rounded nice guy.

It was the mid 70's and he was the first automatic transmission. Smoothest runner I have seen to date.

The 99 yd. run....as I leaped up I sent my plate of h'ordeuvres all over the bar

I was ten and watching a black and white set...I kept thinking there is no way that counted they didn't have enough players on the field...lol Monday night football was must see TV for me after that play.

My favorite player all time, and the reason I got in to football. Guess it's his fault my spine is all jacked up. :D

I wasn't old enough to watch TD (he retired when I was in fourth grade). But I have all the Cowboys' Super Bowls on DVD and several highlight shows with him on them, and I'm super impressed.

He was a workhorse despite being what, maybe 5'10, 190? And his speed and burst were otherwordly. From what I've seen, his stop-start quickness was the stuff of legend; and it's safe to say he'd be a Hall of Famer no matter what era he played in.
