OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The NFL has fined Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis for a helmet-to-helmet hit delivered to Cincinnati Bengals receiver Chad Ochocinco.

The play came in the fourth quarter of Baltimore's 17-14 loss on Sunday. Lewis hit Ochocinco after a pass from Carson Palmer sailed incomplete, and the 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness helped set up the winning touchdown with 22 seconds remaining.

Asked Wednesday if he expected to be fined, Lewis replied, "Probably."

The amount of the fine for that play was not disclosed. However, NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that Lewis was fined a total of $25,000 for the hit on Ochocinco, as well as another play during which Lewis unnecessarily kicked an opponent.

I don't see anything wrong with the hit. it's also pretty funny how Chad gets up like he's gonna do something to Ray:lmao:

I will say it was close but hard to tell from that angle. I did not see helmet to helmet but hard to see if Lewis shoulder pads hit Chad Johnson in the head.

Well, other than there being an unreal amount of helmet-to-helmet contact I suppose it was pretty clean.

Ochos helmet almost rolls off the field.

He and Ray are really tight, so I doubt he would anyway. Chad pleaded for the commish to not fine him by saying it was a good hit, btw.

In my opinion, Lewis could have stopped and not hit him. It was clear that 85 did not have the ball and Lewis was going for a knockout. Well deserved fine IMHO.

It's not like there was a stabbing and someone walked away from the scene of the crime or anything.

well first if the reciever is fine with it i dont think he should be fined.

also is it just 'helmet to helmet' or is it HTH of a defenseless WR? because he knew he missed the ball and got ready for the hit so he was not defenseless
