WICHITA, Kan. — Investigators from the National Football League are in Wichita, looking into the recent arrest of Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle.

NFL representatives are here conducting their own investigation, which is separate from the Wichita Police investigation.

Sources tell KAKE News the NFL is talking to Randle, witnesses and police. It is also looking at interviews reporters conducted after the incident.

This will probably be standard from here on out when it comes to possible DV cases.

They'll do their own investigation, but more importantly they'll make sure people know they are doing it to try and help their image.

from what I gather the NFL is only getting the same information that is availible to the public. However, I can see the NFL mucking up investigations as well as running afoul of labor law with these actions.

They have access to the witnesses and Randle so they get more info then what is public.

Are these the same folks who "investigated" the Ray Rice case? Maybe they will ask if there is any video this time.

Public has the same access. NFL cannot compelling Randle to talk as that could violate his rights. Anything said to the NFL can be supeaned by the prosecution and defense. Always a bad idea to get involved in the middle of an on going investigation.

strange but maybe true: Jerra is holding on to this journeyman scrub in the naife believe that Murray can be pressured to sign cheaper if we half another RB named Randle.

How biased are these investigators as well, how reliable are the witnesses. I hope the police got this right in their reports and accounts, either way it turns out.
I don't trust anything the NFL does in off the field situations and investigations.

Hopefully, Goodell, Mara and Kraft, and their investigators don't "over inflate" this....

District Attorney’s Office reviewing evidence in Joseph Randle case

Evidence in a potential criminal case involving Dallas Cowboys running back Joseph Randle was presented to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office on Friday, officials said.

Randle, 23, was involved in an incident on Feb. 3 at the Hotel at WaterWalk in downtown Wichita. His ex-girlfriend, Dalia Jacobs, accused Randle of pointing a gun at her friend and the infant son she has with Randle.

She also said Randle shattered the passenger window of the car, sending glass flying across her friend and her young son. Jacobs has petitioned for a Protection From Abuse order against Randle. The hearing is now set for March 12.

“The office of the District Attorney is reviewing the evidence that has been presented,” District Attorney Marc Bennett said in a statement released shortly after noon on Friday. “The Wichita Police Department is continuing its investigation.”

I said the same thing with the Hardy case. The NFL should not be playing the role of detective, prosecutor, judge and jury.

They should work with the NFLPA to adopt a new policy that lets the criminal justice system run it's course and then decide if there should be any punishment. The commissioner's exempt list should not be used any more. Until they are found guilt or accept a plea deal they should not be punished or suspended with pay. Players should not be forced to incriminate themselves to try and help the NFL appear tough on crime. Public opinion should not be used as a deciding factor.

Agree. This is serious stuff , true or false... Even innocent people become the victim of an attorney/ prosecutor/defender who wants the sensationalism of athlete publicity, or just the billings .

Trying people in the " court of public opinion " or better described as the "emotional roller coaster " is putting serious stuff in the hands/minds of many who who could not stand the same personal scrutiny.

That is bad business for any organization or individual.

They can't compel Randle to talk anymore than a court can. But if he isn't forthcoming to the NFL he will likely get the hammer. He doesn't have the same rights with the NFL as he does with the courts.

That's the problem. The NFLPA cannot stand for this. It would never happen in Baseball, their Union is too strong.

When they said Peterson's time on the commissioner's list didn't count as time served for his suspension for pleading to a misdemeanor I would have threatened a walkout if I was DSmith. They already left 100s of millions on the table with the last CBA, they can't be walkovers on discipline as well.

This guy is a clown. Cut him already. Draft is LOADED with talented kids without the drama he brings.

What's the rush to cut him? If the Cowboys cut him before June 1 it saves 538k, if they cut him after June 1 it saves 585k. So why not wait and see how the investigation plays out, and see if they get a player in the draft who they think can replace him before deciding on whether or not to release him?

I just don't see the benefits of a knee-jerk reaction.

Legally, it seems to me there's entirely too much "he said, she said" contentions being bandied about for anything substantial to be legally determined. What the commissioner's office is likely to do is another matter entirely but the court decision is quite likely to be weighed heavily by the NFL and its offices. If DeMarco Murray ultimately is bid adieu by Dallas, I'd be somewhat surprised if Joseph Randle becomes an additional release.
