NFL Is urged To Investigate Officiating Crew From Dallas Cowboys at Detroit Lions Game

I bet absolutely nobody in here was saying this when Philly and KC had 14 penalties when playing Dallas for over 100 yards (which was more than double the league average) and DPI after DPI kept getting called on them late game drives. Extending them and shortening the field. Absolutely no one wanted the refs investigated those games.
We're they legitimate penalties in your opinion? I saw DPI on all of them. It's the shady calls and no calls that concern me, regardless of who they're called on.

I would have to go back and look at all of them. But off the top of my head the DPI on Lamb was questionable. He pushed off twice and had hands to the face they were both playing handsy before that.

I mean refs can literally throw a flag and call a penalty legitametly on every play. But i dont think it was a coincedence after the KC game that a lot of the national talk was on the officiating being a little biased towards Dallas

And there was a slew of "questionable" calls in those games. Aj brown being called for OPI when he slipped and fell. Devinta Smith being calle for OPi when a defender is holding his shoulder pads and driving him. Again these are all off the top of my head.

This is a league wide problem with the refs AND including from “NewYork”. The Ravens got robbed of a potential game winning TD today on a pass called incomplete in the end zone. The receiver took 3 steps before the ball was knocked out by a DB. Clear control of the ball.

Officiating is not rocket science. It’s only problematic when there are too many hands in the cookie jar. Stealers stole that one.

So the PI called on Ferguson was an Avon call for the miss offsides call on the Cowboys

I saw the play, but not live. Did they review it? He had possession and on the 3rd freaking step the defender knocked it out. How much time do you need, he's in the endzone.

Yes some bad calls but the D couldn’t stop there O to save our lives, it was just like the last game no one wanted any parts of any back they had. They hung about 50 on this D.

I thought this might be click bait so researched it online and got the following. Still seems a bit short on detail (like - who did the ordering!) to me so no idea.

The NFL has been urged to investigate the officiating crew from the recent game between the Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions due to several controversial calls that significantly impacted the game's outcome. Critics, including former referees and sports commentators, have expressed concerns over missed penalties and questionable decisions made during the match.

Investigation into Officiating Crew

The NFL has been directed to investigate the officiating crew that managed the recent game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Detroit Lions. This decision follows widespread criticism regarding several controversial calls made during the match, which ended with the Lions defeating the Cowboys 44-30.

Key Controversies

  • Offensive Pass Interference Call: A critical moment occurred late in the game when Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson was penalized for offensive pass interference. This call was heavily criticized, with commentators and analysts stating they did not see any interference on the play. The penalty was declined by the Lions, which forced the Cowboys to settle for a field goal instead of a potential first-and-goal situation.
  • Missed Calls: The officiating crew also faced backlash for failing to call a clear offsides penalty against the Cowboys earlier in the game, which led to the Lions punting instead of capitalizing on a potential big play.

Reactions

The officiating has drawn ire from fans and analysts alike, with many expressing concerns over the integrity of the game. Some fans even suggested that the referees were favoring the Cowboys, leading to accusations of biased officiating. Prominent figures in sports media have labeled the officiating as a "disaster," calling for accountability and improvements in officiating standards.

They better get right. There is no way they lose any if the refs would just please help these losers.

The receiver clearly did NOT take a 3rd step before the ball was knocked out. Not a catch.

Do I need to take over this thread too after making Ronnie look like a fool in the other one? Whole lotta whining, zero rule knowledge.

Dak was sacked in the end zone. It was a safety and the refs just made it go away. Ive heard none of you mention it.
At first, the NFL official in the booth (Mike Pereira?) thought the same thing. But after reviewing it, he agreed that the ball was out of the end zone.

And it should be pointed out that he disagreed with some of the calls that were made, particularly the interference, so he wasn't just agreeing to agree.

I thought it was a safety and I thought we were offsides. But the replays they showed made me doubt it ... I could have gone either way with it. The PI call was just bad.

We got whooped...it was pretty apparent to anyone who isn't interested in blaming the refs.

After today, the win against KC also doesn't look too spiffy.

Really close, but I have to agree.

“NFL investigates the officials it employs and finds them not guilty of any wrongdoing the NFL did not intend.”

Ive been trying for years to get my 12 year old into football. Finally, this year he's taken interest. He's Ravens 1.. we live in Maryland.

He watched a TD, celebrated with me. Then it just gets taken away. And honestly, I couldn't explain it away. I was so mad. Here I am trying to get my kid to buy into the game I love and this happens. He left and stopped watching. I can't blame him at all.

Couple that with the Rodgers fumble not fumble earlier where they ruled Rodgers had control of the ball for a split second (maybe, but probably not), so he was down.

It's all disgusting.
