Darren McFadden conceded what we've all suspected for some time: The Dallas Cowboys will utilize a running back by committee. McFadden said he doesn't care who starts because he and Joseph Randle will split carries.

If both Randle and Darren are healthy to start the year, it will be very interesting to see how the carries are distributed. I tend to think the team will give Randle the opportunity to establish himself as the lead dog. Although I can't imagine either of them getting anywhere near DeMarco's number of carries last year.

But...how am I supposed to know who to sneak onto my fantasy team?!

In other news...water is wet, and ice is cold.

They will spilt carries until week 3, when McFadden pulls his hamstring and misses 6 games. All in all I see about 320 carries for Randle

I am not a fan of fantasy football. I think these shows give a skewed perspective on players and teams.
Question, how many fans growing up in the fantasy football era have a different opinion and look as opposed to the old school real football evaluations.
I do not know much about fantasy football. So correct me in the different ways people think.

For example, these guys were talking about Dez, one said top 3 WR's, another said he is more of a 2nd round pick. So if a young child just getting into football, and hears this. and not realizing the difference between winning games or just stats glory. He goes and repeats this information for the next few years not knowing anything different yet. what happens to him at school in a Texas school with kids that know football over fantasy.

They said room a 8th or 9th round pick, but another guy says a top 10 QB.

That was probably the most I watched on a fantasy football show ever. LOL.

But I can see Randle and McFadden will split carries until one emerges more as a top guy. I don't care for the RBBC approach, as a RB can't get in the flow of a game. However, if they are winning, I will be fine with it. :D

My guess is McFadden on third downs for Blocking and pass catching ability

Sad that so many fans here seem to be rooting for our RBs to fail this year to prove themselves right about Murray.

Murray's gone. His choice - he took the best deal. Understandable.

We have guys who can run the ball and play good football. I'm pulling for all 3 of them to stay healthy and be productive. I don't see how there is any less chance of that than there would be if Murray stayed.

IMO it's time to rally around the guys we have. Anything can happen but there certainly is reason for optimism.

I tend to agree. Although lead dog might mean 15 carries a game
I think randle will be the starter and as the game goes the guy who gets the hot hand so to speak will get majority of carries, but randle would be getting the first shot at that hot hand
Then as the season goes on they will get a feel for who gets to be the finisher
No one guy will get even in the ballpark of what Murray did barring injuries but the group I think can be effective and we can end the season in the ballpark of rushing yards as last year
That said I think we pass more this year than last because I think our defense will be improved enough to get us the ball more

Week three? I think you are being WAY to optimistic.

Why don't you guys do an over/under poll on how many games McFadden will be available.
Seems like a hot topic and a wide range of opinions.

He played all 16 last year....but that was the only season he's ever done that.

I like polls because people are then accountable and on record for their predictions.

Why exactly is there "reason for optimism"?

If anything, there's reason to be worried. Already, this team has gone through 5 running backs!

Ryan Williams went first, then McFadden not once, but twice, followed by Dunbar, Randle, and then even rookie Gus Johnson!

How and why is that "reason for optimism"?

I strongly agree. Posted pretty much the same thing in a previous thread. Also, the likelihood of Murray duplicating that same record setting season performance he had last year is slim to none. That's why I don't get the media continuously saying, "the Cowboys are going to miss those 1800 yards Murray gave year". What? Sure we will, but overpaying for him wouldn't have magically guaranteed the same production this season. Seems to me that Chipster (The Genious) is thinking along those same lines.
