In my opinion this roster is not vastly improved if he is referring to roster upgrades. As someone else responded maybe he was referring to that and along with the return of injured players, then maybe.

I haven't heard anyone, rather on this board, in the media or the coaches and front offices use the word "vastly" or any synonym to that word when referring to our roster!

It's hard to quantify teams in the off-season because they evolve during the season and can vastly improve through rookies emerging, veterans having career years and even getting some breaks. They can also go the other way with injuries, underperformance, and poor coaching decisions.

The Cowboys are a tough team to figure out right now because I think we're slotted in a 6-10, 10-6 window but those numbers could go up or down on either end depending on how things play out.

Well compared to 2015 it is vastly improved, due to players that will be healthy this year, romo, dez, scandrick, gregory,
Then they added EE who could be a game changer. plus it means going back to a run heavy offense.
Byron jones at safety, not bouncing around.

So dallas has enough talent to make a run, it is all on the coaches to gameplan etc, and make it happen.

I fail to see how you've managed to assume I have unrealistic expectations for Gregory when I stated he hasn't lived up to expectations and may never do so. (The expectations I referred to weren't mine but rather those of others what fell for the hype that preceded his presence in Dallas.)

I think you might do well to reread my post and calmly take it as it was intended. My expectations for Gregory are and have been non-existent and will remain as such until such time as he had demonstrated he can avoid his pot-smoking ways and produce on the field as it might befit a 2nd round pick.

You said he had failed to live up to expectations. ......so tell me what are your expectations for a 2nd round rookie that missed almost the entire season to injury and was never the same after? I'll wait

Could be it was a reference to JG's "stacking" wins mantra?

Probably so but to be candid, in view of last year's happenings, it's a mantra that bears a sound of whistling past the cemetery to me. I can picture where it might carry some courageous appeal to a fair number of disappointed and discouraged listeners, though.

Once again . . . the expectations I referred to weren't just mine but those that many of us had after he was drafted. Once he got injured and subsequently failed his fourth drug test, those expectations evaporated instantly. You can keep waiting if this reply still doesn't satisfy you.

Mayowa is yet another of Jerry Jones' gambles that may not be worth the trouble of developing. We're sure seeing a lot of these . . . (sigh)

I'll be relieved whenever this organization sees fit to draft DEs early-on like it did when they treasured the benefits of a great pass rush.

You thimk Jones made that call?

If nothing else, the gambling aspect of it surely appears to bear his signature as at least an active part of the acquisition process. I'm quite sure he minimally had to approve of it before the ultimate call was initiated. I also would not refute the belief that others were involved as well. Whether it was basically his brainchild or that of Will McClay, Garrett and/or other participants in the process was never revealed to the best of my knowledge. I still do believe he has the 'last word' when it comes to player acquisitions.

I think they are all involved in acquiring players, but sometimes the jones boys may pick and sign one on thier own.
Last year I felt JG never wanted C. Michael and or probably hardy.
But sometimes players are wanted by the coaches, and jones gets them.
We will never know who wanted who, or who did what.
