On NFL Network just stated he will only play for the Bucs. He said he has had other opportunities to play for other teams and remained a Buc. So being the credible player he is we can take him off the "wish list".

The money JJ has right now is round and appears to be copper colored. I think he would have gone that way already if money was the driver. Just my opinion but I think he retires or goes back to the Bucs.

Thank God! the guy has been in the NFL for 17 years. and he can't play anymore.there is a reason the Bucs paid Goldston of the 49ers all the money to take Barber's spot. HE CAN'T PLAY ANYMORE! thank goodness that he is saving us from another stupid mistake.

Rotoworld confirmed what I heard:
Free agent Ronde Barber stated on NFL Network Monday that he's undecided about playing a 17th season.

"Perhaps," Barber said when asked by NFL Network's Andrew Siciliano about whether he'll return. "I have not made a decision yet." Barber, 38 in April, plans to follow his "gut feeling" when the time comes to decide. Barber also strongly indicated he is unwilling to play for a team other than the Buccaneers.

I think he'd help with our d for a year but not for the future. Our best option is either huff or draft

I agree or both options work as well. Huff and a safety drafted in rds 1-3

He can't play anymore. what is so hard to understand about a guy being to old even for a year? he is not any good anymore.

Good thing we have so much of it then, amiright?! :laugh2:

I don't see why Ronde would want to come to Dallas on a 1 year deal other than a big payday, and we can't give him one.

Nothing against Ronde, but I'd like the Cowboys to go young vet versus savvy old vet, who no longer has the legs.

All the local shows here in Tampa (including Rondes weekly show) basically state the same... He wants to remain a Buc and really not go anywhere else
Coach Schiano (sp?) wants Barber back as well

This. I want a young hitter. A young potential Darren Woodson type.
We need to hit on this position or our D will be vulnerable once again.

I'm glad.

I wouldn't be excited if a 37 yr old Deion was coming in. Ronde at 37?

Nope.

It doesn't have to be in Dallas, I'm just saying he could end up anywhere.

I don't want a 38 year old back there, in a forced leader role because he knows the system, yes, but doesn't know all the little things about his teammates.

Bad idea.

I didn't realize he was THAT old...I change my mind, I don't want him in Dallas unless it is a 1 year deal for extremely cheap (which he wouldn't take, nor should he)

I think he did pretty good for his age and position change. What I did notice is that most of his big plays last year happened when he was around the linebacker area and not in the deep field.

As a result, maybe the Bucs thought that they needed a true safety to play alongside Barron and have Barber play against TEs, FB, or RBs out of the backfield in nickel packages.

I respect Barber but I had no desire to see him in Dallas at this stage of his career.
