It's on right now... I'll update as it goes on
10. Roger Staubach
10th round 129th draft selection
Showed some really good footage of him as a young man in the Navy.
9. S Larry Wilson
7th rd pick for AZ drafted as an offensive player moved to defense; had all his teeth knocked out; played with two broken hands; master at Safety blitz
8. P Ray Guy
Only punter drafted in the 1st round. Revolutionalized the way special teams were played.
7. TE Shannon Sharpe
All-time leader in catches as a tight end.
7th rd 192 player picked out of Savannah State.
Came out too slow to be a WR, too small to be a TE.
22 receivers taken ahead of him;
6. RB Bo Jackson
Didn't want to play for Tampa Bay due to Ownership. Oak wanted Herschel Walker, but took Jamie Kimmel (sp?) Two yrs later and because of that regret, they took Bo Jackson instead.
Al thought it was a throwaway pick. got 4 seasons and a superstar.
5. QB Dan Marino
1983 draft - Year of the QB
Last Qb taken in the 1st round
Couldn't believe Pittsburgh didn't take him. Took Gabriel Rivera because Art Rooney Jr. didn't argue as passionately for him as he did for Bradshaw
Drug allegation rumors alleged why he slid in the draft
Rivera severs spine after 6 games in drunk-driving accident; Bradshaw retires; lead to fall of Pitt
4. Deacon Jones
Played for S. Carolina State. Mississippi Vocational State
Discovered by accident. Scouts were looking at tape of running backs and saw him.
14th rd pick by Rams in 1961
Glamourized the pass rush.
3. Terrell Davis
4th round pick by Denver 196th pick
Due to lack of picks, they were looking for diamonds in the rough.
Didn't have a high 40, ran a 4.6, but he had fast game speed
2. Joe Montana
SF didn't have 1st rd pick. Had Steve DeBerg, but wanted someone who moved better.
82nd pick in the draft; 3 Qbs taken ahead of Montana
And wouldn't you know, they'd showed The Catch.
1. Tom Brady
Bob Kraft called him Kyle Brady upon being introduced the first time
6th rd 199 pick
Schefter said at Michigan Brady was solid and reliable, but he was never like what he was in the NFL. Didn't play much at Michigan due to all the coaches who recruited him left after one year and he was 7th on the depth chart.
