Ben Grossman, of Broadcasting & Cable, reports NBC has added NFL reporter Peter King to its new Sunday night football studio show, Football Night in America. King will join host Bob Costas and analysts Cris Collinsworth and Jerome Bettis.

You know, I sometimes enjoy reading MMQB, but Peter King rubs me the wrong way more times than not. I love watching him make posts about Fantasy Football and then all his player predictions go completely wrong. I wish writers would stick to reporting and not making up everything themselves...

I'm not so sure about Bettis, though...
Same here. Is he "well-spoken"? Costas and Collinsworth are great though.

Costas is excellent and I like Bettis but Chris "Pencil-neck" Collinsworth and "The Peter King" totally suck. They are annoying, moronic, and work too hard to come up with a controvertial opinion.

Was about to post the exact same thing. Collinsworth is AWFUL IMO and I can't believe he is still announcing. Waiting on opinion of Bettis

Simply the flavor of the month after the way last season ended.

Please. Bettis has been the flavor of the past 15 years or so since he was at ND. He has an engaging personality and has been well liked by the media for his whole career. What insight will he add to the broadcast? Not sure, but it's not the reason he got the job is because he won the Super Bowl in his last season in his hometown. He would have gotten a TV job anyhow.

Bettis is definitely a media favorite but he is also a good interview and has a likeable personality (unlike Collinsworth, Theisemann, and many others). I have no idea how much real content he will add but he is there to give entertainment value which the networks believe will draw in non-football fans.

With them it's all about ratings (i.e. $) not content.

Peter King.....great.

I sure hope he doesn't waste much air time telling us about coffee, his daughters or how bad he had to take a dump on an airplane.

Yeah, I like Bettis too. He is seems like a very nice and down to earth guy, exactly the opposite of what he is on the field.

Plus even though he is Steelers player, his childhood team was Cowboys :D

One of my favorite commercials from the past was that one with Bettis running up the hill side and then hurling himself back down tumbling over the rocks and stuff. I think it was Nike, or maybe Reebok. Anyway, a great commercial featuring a tuff SOB..
