10. Dallas Cowboys - 17 straight opening day wins under Landry; Talked about the Landry TC. Streak broken by Steelers.

9. Anquan Boldin's rookie debut AZ vs Det; Charles Rogers vs Anquan Boldin; showed Emmitt proclaiming Boldin ROY during TC. showed Mooch fussing at the coaches to stop that guy. He was pissed on the sidelines. Det got abused. 217 yards that day.

8. 1950 Browns vs Eagles - Browns first game in the NFL. Upset the Eagles

7. Eddie George runs for 216 yards in Titans opener in Tennessee 100 degree weather. Bruce Matthews said the team was booed.

6. OJ Simpson. 250 single game rushing record. 1973 opening day in Buffalo vs New England. First 2000 yard rushing campaign. (Never actually saw him run, and man, he was really good.)

5. 1999 - Troy Aikman, in 1999, threw for 5 touchdowns against the Commanders. Analyst said Troy took over the game. Mooch- example of the 'boys doing whatever it took to win the game. (Man that was a beautiful pass from Aikman to Ismail.)

4. 1994 - Jerry Rice broke Jim Browns TD record. Ended the previous season at 124 TDs. Need three to break it. Tied it with a reverse. Broke it w/a beautiful pass from Young to Rice. Only reason why Jerry is not ranked higher is because he owns so many. Schefter said, "What was it like, his 56th record?"

3. 1994 - Dan Marino and Drew Bledsoe combine for almost 900 passing yards. Combined they threw 93 times due to muddy field. Couuldn't run on it. So, you got two gun slingers winging it all over the field. Bledsoe - 421 yards 4 TDs, Marino 473 yards 5 TDs. Bledsoe never became Marino. Was a good player, but not great.

2. 1976 - Oakland vs Pittsburgh. Cheap shot on Lynn Swann. Noll accused the Oak of cheap shots and somebody even sued. Turns out Noll also had his players play the same way.

1. 1998 - 49ers vs Jets - Jets were in their throwaback unis. Glenn Foley passed for 415 yards. Hearst was stinking up the joint, so they had to rely on Steve Young. Game went to OT. Jets punted and Hearst took it to the house.

Honorable mention - Texans franchise opener against Cowboys

For single coolest plays, they should have added the opener vs. the Eagles a few years back where Randal Williams returned the opening onside KO for a TD.

thanks for posting wg. I forgot this was on. It is on again at 11 I am going to watch it as soon as Special Edition with jerry jones is over.

and fwiw Jerry seemed ho hum about glenns injury and sounded upset that ellis is not on the field and said he expects him out there next week. He cut brad sham off when he said it is a 12 month injury and said we cleared him to play in camp and expected him to be out there....

I was suprised to hear him say it that way.

Does anyone have a clip of that Aikman to Ismail play? I've been wanting to see that again for a while.

That game against the Skins was in 99? Wow. Time flies. It doesn't seem like it was 8 years ago.

It was on youtube, but they removed it recently. It might still be out there on other video sites.

That was a great game. It was also the last big game our Triplets played together where they still able to show their greatness. Troy throw 5 TDs, Emmitt put the team on his shoulders on the first drive in that 4th quarter and ended up taking it in & then Irvin caught 2 TD passes (after Emmitt scored) in the 4th quarter when it mattered to tie the game. What added to this win was playing it in Washington in front of all those Skins fans who forced sit and watch our team's greatness. And yes, Troy's TD throw to Rocket (in his first game as a Cowboy) was great.

I thought that game was a harbinger of things to come. Of course 4 games later Irvin went down against the Eagles (and their rotten classlass fans) and it was the end of the Triplets.

I'm just happy now that 2 of the Triplets are in and soon Emmitt makes it 3.

That wasn't a season opener, but it was a great moment.

I would have chosen the Giants game where Emmitt took the first play too the house.

How in the world can this not be number 1? No one else has come even close to that number.

and everyone forgets, Ismail dropped a perfect one on the exact same play earlier in the game

we've had a couple good season openers with them...35-0 was awesome, the only bummer was losing Kevin Smith

in 1986 we had another good one vs them...guy by the name of Herschel made his NFL debut and helped us beat a Giants team that ended up 14-2 nd won the super bowl
