Nick Eatman Implies Zeke Weed Issue?

Listening to The Break, and the crew was talking about all the Zeke drama. The question was asked about even though none of these, beyond the domestic violence accusation, are necessarily damning, whether there should be concern over the pattern.

Nick replies, and I quote, "Usually where there's smoke, there's fire. And that's kind of a litteral sense at time here because I think that's part of the issue with him."

Obviously there's a few ways to read that statement, but listening to it live, it sounded like he was implying some sort of situation with pot.

I, personally, would not be surprised if Zeke has an undisclosed substance abuse strike that's adding further complication to all this stuff.

I would be all for legalizing weed nationally and allowing it in the NFL (legally) but for now it's not. Once again, between the weed shop and texts Zeke didn't do himself any favors. NOT saying he should be punished for any of it but it was just plain dumb on his part and I agree with the OP, wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if he's already under some sort of undisclosed substance abuse policy.

So what you're really saying is that Randy Gregory needs to be reinstated?

Maybe he already flunked 1 weed test. If he flunked a 2nd, we'd know that by now as there would already be a punishment levied. Don't see how that would complicate anything as it relates to an investigation into a separate matter altogether.

The public wouldn't have any idea if he flunked a drug test unless either the player/player's representation leaked it, or until he has been fined game checks. That happens with a third failure.

Ok I thought the 2nd one caused the loss of game checks. Thanks for the correction. Still, I don't see what one issue has to do with the other. Assuming he's failed 2 tests, which is purely speculation on our part.

Not sure I understand what this has to do with Nick's comment.

All I'm saying is that it seemed he was suggesting Zeke had a strike or two, which the NFL is prohibited from disclosing.

It seem more like he's just throwing poop to see what sticks

I think you're right. It's a bit cryptic, but that's the most reasonable interpretation of the comment. And not really out of character with anything we've heard already re: Zeke and partying.

He's a hell of a football player. I didn't to draft him, and I still think it was the wrong pick, but that's before any of this other stuff crops up. I know we're supposed to love him, and the team really seems to, but I can't help it...I don't like the guy. I don't think the candy throwing stuff is cute, and didn't think jumping in the Salvation Army bucket was funny, and he better get his head screwed on straight because he's courting suspension for a team that hasn't done anything worth mentioning yet.

Most of this off-season teeth gnashing is the same nonsense we see every offseason around here, but Zeke's tendencies are a legit problem. The team needs to be getting on top of this, yesterday. Whether it's Garrett or Dak or Jerry or whoever, he needs to be reigned in.

I happen to like SOME of the goofy stuff Zeke has done; loved the Salvation Army bucket deal. Some of it was stupid; like that pulling down the top thing. I think we will see about Zeke in the next year; if he can learn to channel the goofiness better and get better self control. If he does not then he will be a one contract player for us.

The hacks feel free to insinuate anything they want to about Zeke.
Unbelievable isn't it? What's wrong with these people?

Poor guy can't just expose a womans breast in public without being criticized. Or text about beating drug tests and then walk into a weed shop without raising eyebrows. Or go 100 mph down the tollway without getting a ticket. Or even just carry around a purse without having people laugh at him. Or be involved in a bar fight with shady circumstances. Or maybe believe his own dad and actually be concerned with his behavior.

These jerks have gone overboard! Poor, poor Zeke. Guy is doing everything he can to stay out of the spotlight yet it keeps finding him. It's the media, it's Mara, its the "fans", it's everyone but him. Such a victim.

I didn't mind the jumping into the bucket, really. It had a good outcome, at least.

It was just more of that kind of 'look at me' stuff he did his rookie year. It seems to have built some camaraderie, and that's great. I'd be a lot happier with it if it wasn't part of the other off the field stuff. It just feels like he's getting closer and closer to hurting the team, and that makes me see everything he does and get irritated instead of smile.

Agree.

If the NFL bans Candybars then don't eat candybars. No matter how dumb you think it is those are the rules they currently play by.

The Entire NFL trembles at the very thought of Zeke touching the field....
