It is really difficult to make a 5-9, 183 pound WR into a full time outside WR. It is really hard to use a 1st round pick on a WR if he does not project to be 3 down player.

I always see him listed at 5-10, but maybe you're correct. I never said to make him into an outside WR either.

As far as making him a first round player... I hope Dallas doesn't make any WR a first round pick this year... but if the Rams disagree with you and took Tavon Austin at #8 last year, then Cooks definitely deserves to be a first round pick. I think he's a better player than Austin.

I would take Mosely. He is a playmaker and this defense really needs them.

If I can't trade down, then I'm taking a corner... much to the chagrin of my buddy. :D

Carr is probably gone after this season unless he lowers his contract.

This is the scenario I see playing out for us honestly. I think when we actually are on the clock, Ebron will be the highest rated player on our board. If it were me I would take Nix or Mosely. I wouldn't hate the Ebron pick, in fact it would eliminate the need we have for another WR in my opinion.

Under this scenario, someone would probably be interested in trading up for a corner. If not I would be open to pure BPA and taking a corner. I also like Jernigan and think he will be a good pro. He would be a Travis Frederick type pick.

I might be alone here but Ford, I think he's strictly an OLB. I don't think he's a DE. Perfect fit for a 34, a waste of talent in a 43, to some extent, IMO.

1. Clowney
2. Robinson
3. Mack
4. Watkins
5. Matthews
6. Evans
7. Lewan
8. Gilbert
9. Donald
10. Bar
11. Clinton-Dix
12. Martin
14. Nix
15. Mosely
16. Tuitt
17. Jernigan
18. Shazier
19. Dennard

In no particular order, these are the guys that I believe could help us that are worthy of the 1st round. No QBs or TE's listed. Regardless of what happens in the 1st round in front of us, there will be a good football player there for us at 16 if we can't trade down.

A beer, but seriously I would take Mosely or Jerrigan. I would lean to Mosely because I thinking you could get the Fla DT in the 2nd rd or CArum Reid in the 4th. I like that kid a lot. Plus that would be one hell of Lb corps of Mosely, Lee, Carter and Hollman.

DT Timmy Jernigan: Think he could develop into being capable of playing either the 1 or 3 tech spots. As already mentioned...could pair with Melton to give the Cowboys a solid starting DT tandem...and they'd possibly have solid depth as well, with guys like Bass, McClain, etc.

DE Kony Ealy: The team seems to like him & it was reported that McClay likes him quite a bit. Not sure how accurate that is. Like his size & versatility. Think he showed more of the athlete he is at his pro day.

WR Odell Beckham: If all their top targets were gone & they're unable to trade out, Beckham could potentially represent BPA. Potential game-breaker as a WR & return man. Could help stretch defenses...taking pressure off of Dez & Williams. Could upgrade the slot...while also having the shake/acceleration to beat outside coverage. Would take Austin's place & round out the receivers along with Dez, Williams, Beasley, & Harris.

DE Dee Ford: Explosive 1st step & power that belies his stature. NFLDS/CBS currently has him ranked as the #2 DE behind Clowney. If Spencer clears medically & were brought back on a short-term incentive laden deal, he and Ford could form a nice rotation at RDE.

OLB Ryan Shazier: Tremendous athlete with high production level in college. Among those brought in for the national visits. Jerry mentioned they'd like to add some speed on D...and Shazier definitely fits that bill.

If you're going by the Ourlads ratings:

Jernigan 9.25 28th rated
Ealy 8.91 41st rated
Beckham 9.42 19th rated
Ford 9.04 35th rated
Shazier 9.43 18th rated

Shazier and Beckham are terrific prospects but at positions that aren't quite as needy. Would the Cowboys pull the trigger on either one?

That's the question.

If Ebron is BPA at 16 and we took him the board might melt down. I will be in the far corner of the room celebrating the fact we just got a blue chip tight end and save a spot on the bandwagon for you when you finally realize what I already know.

I'd be thrilled with Jernigan personally.

I would look at Mosley, Ealy, Ford(think he might be limited in his first year though to just passing downs pass rushing), Nix(probably not a fit here but I like the player), Beckham, Shazier.

Aside from Jernigan and maybe Mosley, I wouldn't want any of those guys at 16 but since they can't trade down, gotta reach a bit.

If the worst case scenario is Ebron, it wouldn't be that bad for me just because its not like we'd be drafting a backup TE, that's Escobar, he's Witten's replacement. Ebron would be our Jimmy Graham, basically a #2 WR. If we played him with Dez, Witten, Williams, it'd be worth it and how much different would it really be than picking a guy like Evans? Other than their position label. Graham, Gronk, Thomas, Reed. They're deadly weapons.

I'm not advocating it but my opinion has changed since last year and even a month ago. IF IF IF we use him right. IF.

On Jernigan, I feel like if we didn't take Floyd last year, then why would we take Jernigan this year?

Ealy, he's just a guy to me. I don't see him as a real pass rusher in the NFL.

Beckham, he's a nice player but he's not elite and he's not at a position of need so those two things make me feel like he should not be the pick.

Ford, I love but he's not a DE. He's a straight OLB IMO. He's a 34 OLB. I would take him and play him as a Will 43 but his strength, IMO, is as a OLB in a 34 and some 34 team will see that.

Shazier, he's a nice player. Very Athletic but I'm not sure he's all that instinctive. I like him but I don't love him. A lot of players I like better in this draft.

I agree on Ealy. See him as decent...but likely not special. But the team seems to like him.

Personally, I wouldn't mind adding a WR...taking advantage of quite a bit of talent. What I like about Beckham is that he can have an impact on 2 of 3 phases (WR & ST's). Also think he could play inside or outside despite being shorter in stature, due to his leaping ability, speed, etc. Aside from obviously Watkins & Evans...two of my favorite WR's in the draft are Allen Robinson & Donte Moncrief.

Ford may indeed be better suited at OLB. That said, guys like Cameron Wake (6-3/258), Robert Mathis (6-2/246), Jabaal Sheard (6-2/255), Elvis Dumervil (5-11/260), etc...have played both 4-3 DE & 3-4 OLB successfully.

I agree on Shazier. But he's another guy that they've shown interest in & in this scenario of not being able to trade down, I would think he'd at least be considered.

I don't think the Cowboys are interested in Ford either as a DE or a LB.

The 3 QBs are gone (that part is good as it should help push players down to us).
Clowney is gone
Mack is Gone
Barr is Gone
Donald is Gone
The 4 OT's are gone
Sammy Watkins and Mike Evans are gone
Clinton Dix and Pryor are gone

You call around but can't find anyone willing to trade...

Who do you take?

Shazier or Tuitt
