For the past year, is it me or does he go down easy at the point of contact??? Great TE in all aspects, not questioning that at all, but.....TAke for example last night when he went down at the 1, Should he have scored, lowered the shoulder etc??? Just wondering...

I'm more concerned about his penalties in big games. I love J-Wit but he's gotta stop with the bonehead penalties. He'll get it corrected this week.

At least one thing's for certain. Now that Hocculese (sp?) is off the steroids (anyone notice how deflate he looked?), it's clear it has not at all impacted his abities to call grossly erronious penalties against Dallas.

Hes a hall of famer, and Yesterday was his worst game of the season, your nit picking.

I didn't have a problem with that play. I think he gave maximum effort but the defenders just stopped him. However, he does seem to get tackled easily a lot of times. Still wouldn't trade him for any other TE in the league though.

I'm sure If Witten believed he had any chance to get into the endzone he would have gone for it. Don't forget back inn 07 against the Lions he caught a pass from Romo on the 1 yard line and tried desperately to score; instead he fumbled it to the Lions. In the end Romo throw a pass to Witten in the endzone with only 22 seconds to go. Point is that to fight to get into the endzone when you got little chance might have led to a fumble instead of a score later on.

RAC has never really been his forte. He'll never be the punishing runner that Bavaro was.

The penalties thing is really annoying. I wish they could get this fixed.

The other thing that irks me is Romo regularly coming to the LOS in a battle to get the play off in time. I think it let's the DL get a jump on the ball. We should be aiming to get most plays off with about 5 seconds left.

his 3 penalties yesterday are a concern... breaking tackles are not important

all year his penalties are just brutal.

and he's supposed to be one of the "veterans" or smarter guys on offense.

Yeah, not really sure a couple of those were penalties. That offensive PI call was pretty damn weak. I see just about every team in the league do that exact same thing and rarely see it called. One of the other ones he was called for seemed pretty iffy too.

Yes you are nitpicking. But yes you are exactly right. It seems like he is trying to avoid a big hit or something. We laugh about it all the time. He is a top 5 TE in the league and a beast on our team so people on here dont like it when you bring it up, but i agree with you he goes down easy.

I wouldn't blame him for the down field blocking penalty. There's an internal clock on a play like that. He had to figure the ball was thrown by the time he started blocking.

It was iffy but in the end it is a timing issue. If we run that play more we will get more precise in its execution. Same thing as other screens - deception and timing are the key.

Dont get me wrong he is in my mind the best all around TE in the league. Just throwing that out there, at 250/260lbs I would think he would run thru more dudes....like that Eagles game when he lost his lid.

He always has. He actually can't lower his shoulder or make any moves because he can't bend at the hips :laugh2:

If thats the only complaint you can come up with for Witten then I'd say he's doing pretty darn well.
