No Big Plays... just everything underneath

I am so pleased that we dont give up the BIG DEEP PLAYS anymore(although against Washington and Green Bay there were a few close calls)

Now we seem to give up just about EVERYTHING thrown underneath.... regardless of who is behind center.

Is that because of philosophy mostly or poor execution or the players?

I'm not positive, but it looks like we give teams the underneath stuff, hoping for good pressure and sure tackling if the pass is caught.

It's an agressive bend but don't break. It's infuriating at times, but it's also the best scheme for our personnel and it's 11-1.

Agreed.

I just wonder if we shouldnt press the WR's a little and try and jump some routes. Got take chances once in a while.

The gameplan is out on us.... if you play the Dallas Cowboys just throw 5-10 yard passes every play.

This philosophy will force us to have to score 30+ against the good teams from here on out... or atleast in the playoffs... a little dangerous if you ask me

Most definitely. I wasnt complaining. Just trying to understand what we have here on defense.

Did you see that Roy hit? NICE!

The whole sportsbar went "OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" in concert!

You have to give up something in any defense. It is a trade-off. The key is stopping the offense whatever it takes, especially in the clutch. Ware came up with a big third-down sack in the fourth quarter last night.

Seems to be the way Wade wants to cover the spread offense.

We've seen this in several games now.

We really don't have enough speed in our nick/dime packages to play otherwise.

Newman and Reeves are the only corners with sub 4.4 speed.

Yeah but against good teams we are giving up alot of points

Giants 35 and 20 pts
Patriots 48
Skins 23
Packers 27

Hopefully the 2nd game vs the Giants was an indicator of "getting better".... its hard to read with this defense.

Reeves...4.4
Reeves ran a 4.45 to 4.48 at his Pro Day, which isn't sub 4.4. The Purdue field seems to run faster than the Combine field, so realistically he's probably about a 4.50 40 guy.

Was it just me, or did Dallas just seem to back off the pressure, once Favre went out. It seems like Dallas just backed off with some of it's packagaes, and was content with simply letting Aaron Rodgers pass the underneath routes.

Is it supposed to be impressive that he ran down a player that runs a 4.55? By the way, ballcarriers lose speed because they can't use their arms to run when they're carrying the ball. I wouldn't expect you to know that, much less understand why that's the case.

LOL. Yeah, outrunning a 250 lb. linebacker is impressive.

Everyone on the field.

Both teams...all players.

He smoked 'em.

That's why he is a starter.
