Been looking over the schedules and crunching some numbers and it is going to take a major choke job to lose this division. Why?
With the Skins losing to the lowly Vikes last night that pretty much ended any serious talk of them winning the division. There is not going to be any 7 game winning streak this year, just look at their remaining schedule. Plus they are 0-2 in the division and a horrid 1-5 in conference play.
The Giants at 2-6 are done as well. They are 1-2 in the division and 2-4 in conference play, it would take a choke job of EPIC proportions for them to catch us considering they are 3 wins behind us and have already lost to us, in effect making them 3.5 back with 8 to play. They would have to almost run the table and have us lose the majority of our 7 games remaining. They are also at San Diego, at Detroit, and have games at home against Seattle, Green Bay, and us.They would have to go 7-1 the second half of the season just to make it to 9-7, which is probably the record required to win the division.
The Eagles are our closest competition, but they have already lost to us on their field, so the rematch will be in Dallas. Further more, they also have 2 divisional losses already compared to our none. They also have 2 conference losses, compared to our 1. While their schedule is easier compared to ours, they are currently riding a 11 game home losing streak so playing games at home is really not an advantage for them.
Bottom line is if we can get to 9-7, there is almost no way we can lose this division because we will have tiebreakers on just about all of our division opponents. So that means we go 4-3 over these last 7 and we should win the division. Basically the only way to lose this division is to have a losing record over these final 7 games.
If we have a losing record over these last 7 games..................no excuses for Garrett, will be EPIC choke job.
