……I think you just addressed one of Coe Dees family members or homeboys. I could just sense the passion and hurt from them
Im not a friend, or family member of Ceedee Lamb. Just a Cowboys fan.
My point is, this organization has had talented teams that could have won. This is a talented team who looked like the best team in the NFL for a good part of the 2021 season. They made it to the playoffs and laid a egg. I get it, but gutting the team isn't the answer. Ceedee Lamb isn't a #1 WR, he needs to have a true #1 on the field with him to give him 1on1 opportunities and he'll flourish.
Alvin Harper was very good, but without Michael Irvin he wouldn't have had as many opportunities to use his skill set and do what he did best. It's about getting guys to compliment the guys we have...not cutting dynamic players.
Zeke Elliott did not run the football well this year, Oline played shabby in the run game and the pass game verses teams with good rushers and defenders. Its football. We have to be better at getting match ups that favor our guys and putting them in positions to be successful consistently.
Also, I do think Zeke may need to go with Cooper. He lacks speed, quickness, and explosion. He doesnt make defenders miss, or make big plays in the running game. He still runs with power and attitude, but he gets tired quickly too often and he doesn't have the homerun ability to scare defenses. He looks like a backup role would be perfect for him but his salary makes that a hard sell.
I'm with you guys who say Ceedee needs to have less drops. I also think Dak Prescott has to be more accurate. But its tough to think the answer is getting rid of them. I think we can win a super bowl with those two players complimenting a few key additions we need to work in at TE, RB, OL, and WR. We can do that in one draft. That's possible.
We need interior pass rush, a young homerun hitter at RB, more speed at WR, and some help on the OL. If we add that...we can play with anybody and win.
Unfortunately we're going to have to get younger to do that...and that means some Vets have to go. Cooper, Gallup, Ceedee, Zeke, D-Law, Martin, Tyron...we have to take a hard look at these guys and make some tough decisions.
