After 4 weeks I am left wondering what kind of team are we?

On offense, We are arunning team you might say. Sure doesn't look like it, Jones is yet to reach a 100 yards (Not all his fault). We have had some success throwing the ball, but we never stick with it. I would love to see a stat on the run/pass ratio on first down. It must have been close to 85% Run.

Defense.....early in the year it looked like we would be a pressure "D" with lot's of blitzing that tried to force turnovers. It now appears we are sit back team and see what happens. Zimmer mixes in a few wrinkles every once and a while, but for the most part......VANILLA.

I have to say that I am most concerned about the Offense. Give Bledsoe some rope please. Throw the ball. Take some shots, spread the field, stop running on first down every time.

Would the real Cowboys and coaching philospy please stand up.

I was thinking this exact same thing yesterday. You look at other defenses and they are known for being tough against the run, heavy on the pressure, ballhawking, etc. Not ours. Juke made a great comment yesterday that we are not taking advantage of the complexities and flexibility of the 3-4. Rather, it appears that we are trying to run it like we ran the 4-3. Very little pressure, our linebacker has his hand on the ground, and very little element of surprise.

On offense, we are trying to run the ball into a brick wall. If the defense is hell-bent on stopping the run we have to be able to make them pay for it with the pass. We have way too many weapons on offense for them not to be used. You cannot tell me that another team's 3rd and 4th db's ( or lb's) match up well with Patrick Crayton, Terry Glenn, Peerless Price, or Jason Witten (I know Glenn is starting, but he could be matched up against a number 3).

Did you guys watch the game yesterday? We didn't have too much success throwing the ball. Bledsoe didn't have too much time to throw the ball yesterday and when he did the Raiders had pretty good coverage. Drew was 11-26, we tried to throw and we couldn't, we tried to run and we couldn't. It happens. We were 3 yards from winning that game. But just saying that we should thrown more and that will solve all our problems is ridiculous.

Right, thats where a real DOOMSDAY D comes through and wins the game with PRESSURE!
But nope, were passive & predictable wasting our players talents there...

Don't disagree that there was not much success throwing. So, ask yourself why??

It was almost exclusively 3rd down only passing.
O-line play+rb missed blitz pick ups.
Where was the play-action?
