Pittsburgh Steelers are saying there no interest so far in any Steelers except for Randal El. Chris Hope has not been contacted and has no scheduled visits planned. Cowboys reportedly believe Hope will resign with Steelers so I guess that's why they not interested.

Admit I haven't seen Hope play but do know he made more tackles & had more INTs then Palamou (sp?). Scouts.com rate him as #4 best FS after Milloy, Archulata, McCree and ahead of Chavous & Manual (both of whom have already been signed). Given our need to upgrade FS, why haven't we even contacted Hope, who only 26?

Read somewhere (maybe KFFL) that Milloy might come in for an interview. Milloy ranked #1 by Scouts.com, but he is 31 or 32 & is a FOB. I think he will cost too much & don't like his age. Also don't want Marcus Coleman of the Texans; age against him & Scouts.com rank him midway/or lower on long list of available FSs.

scouts.com needs to rethink their ratings if he is #4 FS behind that group...especially Milloy and Arhchulata, both of whom are horrendous in coverage and are really SS's

I read something about Hope wanting a VERY big contract. But at least we should bring him in to talk about it. I would love if we signed him..

Never been impressed with Hope and "hope" we steer clear- feeds off the reputation of Polamalu. Stealer fans have whined about him sucking ever since they've had him, though, they have whined about getting rid of Roethlisberger after all four of his losses-joke fanbase.

Yep, I think that talk of the monster contract has probably turned people off. I'd love to have him, but we've got enought $$$ tied into the secondary right now (and we haven't even signed Law yet :D )

Sounds like teams are letting the market set his price because Hope has overvalued his services.

Scouts.com groups all safeties, strong and free, in one category. There are only four UFA free safeties in their top 10: Hope (#4), Idrees Bashir (#7), Lance Schulters (#8) and Will Demps (#10).

I was wondering about Hope. I do not recall seeing anything on Hope anywhere.

I recall weeks ago that the word out of Steeler camp was that re-signing Hope was a priority. Perhaps they scared a lot of teams off who might have been interested but didn't want to waste time courting an FA that they couldn't realistically have.

from PFT:

LITTLE HOPE FOR CHRIS
Although ESPN's Len Pasquarelli has ranked Steelers safety Chris Hope as the No. 19 free agent available this offseason, Hope has yet to line up a single visit, even as other guys are criss-crossing the country in search of the big money that flows in the early days of the signing period.

So what's the problem? As one league source explained, "Hope has no one interested in him because all the teams get the films of all the games. He is slow, can't tackle, and he is dumb, all of the qualities that go into a big contract."

Ouch.

The fact that Hope has yet to even schedule a visit is significant in light of the fact that virtually every team was talking prior to Saturday at 12:01 a.m. to the guys in whom they had heavy interest. So the reality is that the 31 teams other than the Steelers haven't seen fit to include him in the game of musical chairs that, in early March, typically pays out more money than at any other time of the year.

Archuleta and Roy on the field at the same time would be a quarterback's wet dream... receivers might not like the idea as well, but quarterbacks would eat that defense alive...

I could draw up an offensive game plan for that defense...

Edit that to Mike Zimmer's wet dream and I'll agree.

For unknown reasons, our resident defensive coordinator has a phobia when it comes to free safeties.

We haven't had one on the team since George Teaugue retired.

That is pathetic.

Yeah that game plan would be easy to do:
throw 50 times a game and 30 of those passes go deep.

Day 2 half in the bag. We've signed a Tier 2 Oline guy named Kosier, nary a mention of FS news. This is almost comical how we screw up Safety in Dallas.

I agree this has been hard to bare but I would consider Kosier more of a tier 3 Olineman
