I've posted this before but I'll say it again. Lots of guys can probably give us 7 sacks a season. Heck, there are probably guys on our own roster now who could do that over 16 games. That's really not what we want or need IMO. We need a guy who threatens on every play. Teams need to fear the edge rusher. That makes them account for him on every play and double him. Lots of guys can get 7 or 8 sacks but they may not be guys who are drawing double teams on every play.

And what about a constant force in the middle who can collapse the pocket? Is Crawford and Brent the answer?

I think Crawford might be able to develop into a player like that. Especially if you have somebody on the edge who demands doubles. Brent, I don't know. He's been on the shelf for awhile so it's hard to know exactly what he might be, IMO, at this point.

I like Crawford too, but at this point, if we can get an elite player at any position on the d-line, I'll take it, no matter if it is interior or exterior. We have seen some hope in D-Law on the outside.

The Packers had Aaron Rodgers, a 1st round selection in the NFL draft waiting to take over when Favre left.

We have Brandon Weeden and Dustin Vaughn.

And possibly a draft pick from this year, or next year, or the year after. Should I use the Patriots after Brady instead, all they had was some 7th rounder no one had ever heard of waiting in the wing.

My case is another Brandon Carr type contract isn't going to help out, I am sorry if everyone here disagrees with me, but I just don't see the logic in putting our future in the hands of a guy with more red flags than a game of minesweeper.

No problem. Different strokes for different folks. I think the positives outweigh the negatives and think a guy like him could help us bring home a championship.

Carr was not an elite talent.

Hardy is an elite talent. He's a top 5 (or better) DE. He might be the best 4-3 DE in the NFL.

There's really no point in drafting Romo's replacement at 27 or even in the 2nd round.. if he goes down well have a top ten pick next year.

Our front office is downplaying our situation. Everyone knows we need a proven 10+ plus sack a yr player and Hardy is our guy. The window is closing, now is the time.
