They traded Parsons for future picks so why trade those picks to win now? It makes no sense, but it is typical of Jerry-world where these it no plan for the future. Everything is done on impulse.
Until this team comes up with a viable identity, and a plan to achieve that identity, they will never win anything. These impulse transactions by Jerry fail because there is no thought put into them except the immediate gratification of having pulled the trigger on something.
Save the picks and decide a good plan of how to best use them to fix the defense. IMO, they need to draft an impact defensive player in the first round the next two years.
Then again, Dak isn't getting any younger so maybe the only chance they have is to trade for a player like Myles Garrett and hope he plays at a high level the next 3 years.
The dilemma they are in now is the result of not having a good plan to win with Dak.
Miles Garrett is not on the trade block, He said he wanted to be traded before the season ,they gave him his money he's in the first year of a new deal...
that means he's pretty much untradable, you would have to pay more to get him than as if you would have kept Parsons ,You're not backtracking here, the Cowboys are not going to do that, besides the fact that he's not anymore available than the other guys everybody in here has been clamoring for their teams have said they are not being traded, and yet you guys keep listening to stories that are fake AI driven rumor mills for clickbait..
They're not one player away they are not making that move and it would be really stupid to do,
they did have a plan unfortunately egos got in the way and Parsons end up getting traded,
he asked for a trade, he demanded a trade, he forced Jerry's hand with all the stuff that happened in social media and in camp and PS,, and then they kept raising their price,, they offered him what I considered a very fair deal at the time it was about 1/2 million or a million more than TJ Watt or Garrett, he turned it down, this is not all on Jerry for not having this plan..
The plan blew up they did not want to get rid of Parsons, they wanted Parsons here, But it got ugly egos got in the way and here we are, They're not going to be able to cover that hole from Parsons leaving until the offseason.
We'll have to go into free agency, they will have to go into the undrafted free agents ,and the draft, and figure out how to make up for that loss, and then some, I have faith that at least they did something, they were way more aggressive this offseason, but they allowed a lot of players to walk before the Parsons trade because they assumed Parsons was going to be here, and it blew up in their face, but Jerry for once wasn't going to act desperate and cave and overpay and give Parsons and his agent what they wanted..
They're sitting here and it looks like they didn't have a plan but their plan all along when they did all these moves in the offseason before the trade it was with Parsons in the mix and it's not and it's now a rudderless ship on defense and it looks like his was unplanned but it wasn't this is just something that happened..
I don't understand how fans don't understand we were part of this whole drama but all along most of us thought both sides thought all parties wanted parsons here and thought parsons was going to be here and now he's not..
But Jerry has never let a player like Parsons go,
every single player has got a big deal and we're overpaid to stay he's made sure that that is why this is an anomaly...
this was not a plan, and now they're going to have to come up with a new plan you can't really do that when you didn't have any time or a draft or really had an idea that Matt Eberflus was going to be this bad and we're going to have this many injuries and that this thing was just a sinking ship and there's just no way to fix it all right now.
