No play in trading for talent this year seems to be a certainty

I think we don't do anything until after the season. I think what we see is what we have. Maybe sneak into the playoffs at the end. Only way that changes is if we get blown out Monday night. Might be forced to take action then. One thing to get beat by Denver who is really good versus getting beat by the Cardinals who are really bad.

They traded Parsons for future picks so why trade those picks to win now? It makes no sense, but it is typical of Jerry-world where these it no plan for the future. Everything is done on impulse.

Until this team comes up with a viable identity, and a plan to achieve that identity, they will never win anything. These impulse transactions by Jerry fail because there is no thought put into them except the immediate gratification of having pulled the trigger on something.

Save the picks and decide a good plan of how to best use them to fix the defense. IMO, they need to draft an impact defensive player in the first round the next two years.

Then again, Dak isn't getting any younger so maybe the only chance they have is to trade for a player like Myles Garrett and hope he plays at a high level the next 3 years.

The dilemma they are in now is the result of not having a good plan to win with Dak.

Making trades to "save" this year in hopes of making the playoffs is incredibly dumb.

Unless there is a top tier talent available at a bargain bin price (which there won't be) the smart move is to begin making moves for next year.

The Cowboys should be sellers, not buyers.

but you know jerry. He will overspend on a very average LB and claim its not just for this year, but for the next 2 years as well.

I think they need to make moves now. Not as buyers, but as sellers. I’d be shipping Tolbert, mazi now. And if there’s no one offering a pick for mazi I’d cut him. Show some balls. I’d also make a decision on Pickens now. Sign him or trade him

Exactly. I hate letting players you don’t intend to extend, just walk. Get something even if it’s a 7th where you can. But I’d be making my decision on Pickens right now. Sign or trade now. It’s crazy to just let him walk and I don’t see tagging him working out very well. Just make a damn decision

We paid Dak and Ceedee, it makes no sense to "re-build" the team with your QB on his 3rd contract playing his best football.

Micah was not an "impact All-Pro" year 1. Neither was Diggs, neither was Ceedee - these guys all took 2-3 years to become who they are. Unless the FO is willing to swallow that doing all of this will potentially lead them to having to find another QB again 4 years down the line - then what's the point of "re-building" the whole team only to have to "re-build" the offense again at that time.

It makes sense to ship it all out right now to improve the team today - you can't sensibly rebuild half of the team - have your QB playing his best football and expect that from him when he's 35-36 YO to continue.

You're looking at this backwards if we do Denver and then beat the Cardinals it would give them a sense that they actually had more of a shot and then make a move That loss in Denver pretty much put one of the last nails in the coffin there might still be a sliver of hope you beat the Cardinals you got the bye week to make changes players are coming back Maybe they see enough hope but I believe the Raider game might be too late I think they Have the trade deadline before that game so yeah I think that they're not gonna do anything because there's no reason to do it so you're looking at this completely backwards If they would've won more games it would've gave them more motivation to get something done so they can actually get better not make trades just to get back to average..

The defense is not one player away, anybody who keeps saying we can trade for guys that are not even on the trade block,

i'm getting tired of hearing the names not you but people in here now they've added Miles Garrett in his first year of his new deal no Crosby Garrett guys like Simmons and Hendrickson they're not going to be traded it would take way too much compensation to get them, and then it would make it make zero sense to have traded Parsons and I still believe they did the right thing at the time I using recency bias and desperation to say that oh we need to go and cover up that mistake by giving up the same draft capital if not more and paying about the same amount of money to go get a player we just got rid of...

Most of this fan wish list is just that most of them are not even on the trade block most of their teams have already told them they're not going to get traded even though I know that can change and yet the fans sit here and act like the media and all this fake news and rumors have any validity whatsoever they don't These guys are not even being moved not just to the Cowboys they're not being moved...

Miles Garrett is not on the trade block, He said he wanted to be traded before the season ,they gave him his money he's in the first year of a new deal...

that means he's pretty much untradable, you would have to pay more to get him than as if you would have kept Parsons ,You're not backtracking here, the Cowboys are not going to do that, besides the fact that he's not anymore available than the other guys everybody in here has been clamoring for their teams have said they are not being traded, and yet you guys keep listening to stories that are fake AI driven rumor mills for clickbait..

They're not one player away they are not making that move and it would be really stupid to do,

they did have a plan unfortunately egos got in the way and Parsons end up getting traded,

he asked for a trade, he demanded a trade, he forced Jerry's hand with all the stuff that happened in social media and in camp and PS,, and then they kept raising their price,, they offered him what I considered a very fair deal at the time it was about 1/2 million or a million more than TJ Watt or Garrett, he turned it down, this is not all on Jerry for not having this plan..

The plan blew up they did not want to get rid of Parsons, they wanted Parsons here, But it got ugly egos got in the way and here we are, They're not going to be able to cover that hole from Parsons leaving until the offseason.

We'll have to go into free agency, they will have to go into the undrafted free agents ,and the draft, and figure out how to make up for that loss, and then some, I have faith that at least they did something, they were way more aggressive this offseason, but they allowed a lot of players to walk before the Parsons trade because they assumed Parsons was going to be here, and it blew up in their face, but Jerry for once wasn't going to act desperate and cave and overpay and give Parsons and his agent what they wanted..

They're sitting here and it looks like they didn't have a plan but their plan all along when they did all these moves in the offseason before the trade it was with Parsons in the mix and it's not and it's now a rudderless ship on defense and it looks like his was unplanned but it wasn't this is just something that happened..

I don't understand how fans don't understand we were part of this whole drama but all along most of us thought both sides thought all parties wanted parsons here and thought parsons was going to be here and now he's not..

But Jerry has never let a player like Parsons go,

every single player has got a big deal and we're overpaid to stay he's made sure that that is why this is an anomaly...

this was not a plan, and now they're going to have to come up with a new plan you can't really do that when you didn't have any time or a draft or really had an idea that Matt Eberflus was going to be this bad and we're going to have this many injuries and that this thing was just a sinking ship and there's just no way to fix it all right now.

If they can get a Williams or a Simmons to have for the next few years they absolutely should as they have proven they have zero ability to draft a top tier DT and guys like that won't be free agents.

Jerry likes to milk publicity for all it's worth and keep the Cowboys name in the media as long and as often as possible. If they do anything big there's a good chance it'll be in the 23rd hour.

There will be no "sneaking" into the playoffs - some are still delusional on this teams ability - the ceiling is 8 wins which doesnt get in to the playoffs and looks more like a 6 win team

If they can add a veteran DB or LB for a day 3 pick I would do it.

Eberflus being a better teacher would improve this defense more than any player would at this point.
As long as they are under contract and not a rental for this year i could get on board

I’d give up the two 2026 1st round picks for Myles Garrett today.

I’d have the league’s best pass rusher for several years at a huge discount.

If he’s truly unavailable, yeah sit tight and draft for the future.

I am hearing sources it will be a Defensive End.

Look for Jaelen Phillips IMO

I would be for trading for any D player that could not only help us this year but has contract situation that would also allow him to be here the next 2 or 3 years.

Jerry will do something big to give fans false ‘hope’ and to show that the Jones family is ‘engaged’

Of course it will be a bad deal but they dont care

Its going to happen

I heard Orlovski commenting that he believes that there are already 6 teams with a " lock " on the NFC playoffs and 10 teams fighting for that final spot.

Of course its just his opinion but it does put it in some prospective
