Reported talks between representatives for wide receiver Dez Bryant and Dallas Cowboys management yielded "no progress" over the weekend, according to Bleacher Report analyst Jason Cole.

Cole, an NFL insider citing unnamed sources, said the Cowboys are not budging from their long-term offer, worth "approximately $20 million guaranteed and subsequent guarantees later on."

The Cowboys placed the franchise tag on Bryant this offseason, but he has yet to sign the tender which will net him nearly $13 million next season. The deadline is July 15 for the Cowboys to reach a long-term deal with Bryant.

Bryant has threatened to sit out the first game of the season if no such deal is in place.

Cole said there were three main reasons no progress was made:

1. The Cowboys believe Bryant is bluffing about missing games.

2. The Cowboys believe Bryant "ultimately needs the money."

3. The Cowboys are encouraged by Bryant's appearances at camp this offseason.

I don't believe it.....I honestly don't see the Jones' only offering Dez $20M guaranteed.

i agree with this. this deal gets done by July 15th and Bryant will get the guaranteed money he wants.

Bleacher Report? I call horse ****.

That's a hyperbole quote if I ever saw one. Again, horse ****.

This post has double horse **** attached.

It was reported by Ian Rapoport several months ago that the Cowboys offered Dez only $20M guaranteed. It's obvious the Cowboys don't trust Dez with a lot of guaranteed money that's what's holding this up.

maybe so and hopefully just a negotiation starting point. I'm all for them being penny wise but in this day and age of the NFL and the talent and impact Dez brings to this team, holding firm at $20m guaranteed is a pound foolish.

Why do the Cowboys get tight when it comes to great players? They willfully hand the likes of Roy Williams, Jay Ratliff, Miles Austin etc... huge deals but want to haggle with Dez. Ugh

The contracts of those players weren't in the stratosphere they're looking at with Dez and they didn't have the off the field concerns.

Talk about one-sided.
All three points basically say the Cowboys won't negotiate and none about why Dez' side won't give a little.
Works both ways if it's a true negotiation.

If they are that worried they should just trade him. He is a top 3 WR in the game and has never missed a game because of disciplinary reasons. Dez has been everything and more than we hoped for, pay him.

That's the part I want to know. Is dez side budging any? If they aren't I don't blame the cowboys.

What great players?

Ware? There was no way we were going to pay him 12 mil a year. And a matter of fact, no other team other then the Broncos.

Murray? No other team other then the Eagles even reached out to him. No one was also was going to pay him what they gave him. They were in a bidding war with themselves.

I happen to like the way Dallas has managed their cap of recently and have no problem with the way they handled the "one" other great player that just happen to be near the end of his career.

Take any reports from insiders in contract negotiations with a grain of salt.

They will sign Dez. He will get his money and he will be a Cowboy for a long time.

As far back as Nov the offer was $20M guaranteed and the Cowboys haven't budged after all this time.

http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2014/11/9/7181227/dez-bryant-dallas-cowboys-contract-off-field

maybe they know something about Dez that I don't because over the past couple years, I haven't heard squat in this area that would question trust in this guy. And before that, they were goofy, immature issues.

I thought I saw Dez grow up right in front of my eyes when he resisted DeAngelo Hall's taunts....
