I have heard them talk about it on ESPN dallas, and it was in a DMN article a couple of months ago. The sport supplement company was paying him via a trust for a Bugatti. Instead of taking actual cash, he wanted it in a trust for a 2 million car. He didn't make that much, but he still has it on "stick back"!

Cole, an NFL insider citing unnamed sources, said the Cowboys are not budging from their long-term offer, worth "approximately $20 million guaranteed and subsequent guarantees later on."

Toot! Toot!

And it will be a legendary mistake. Like I said, they paid Ratliff to watch him quit on the team. Jones will risk millions on people like him and players who can't stay healthy but wants to play hardball with Dez. So so stupid. Dez would still hold great trade value, those other players were worthless.

Maybe Jerry and company have learned from mistakes like Ratliff and don't want to make another one. I agree that Dez's issues have been far less alarming than the issues many, many other highly paid NFL players have had. He hasn't hit any women (or children), failed any drug tests, been arrested for driving drunk or been in danger of being suspended for anything, at least as far as tI know. Dez just seems immature and a little naive to me, as well as passionate about playing football and being a Dallas Cowboy--the kind of player you wish you had 53 of on your team but still need to be a little bit cautious with when it comes to doling out long-term contracts and big guaranteed money. If that's what the Joneses are doing, I don't blame them a bit. They know him a heck of a lot better than I do.

1st I disagree if he sits we lose but that's a whole other debate. 2nd it's different. Lol you can keep saying it's the same but it doesn't make it true. Lol he can't get more money or at least a long term contract like Smith could and did.

Not the same at all. Dez CAN'T get more money after July 15th.
All he will accomplish is losing games and losing 750k a week.

His teammates won't even back him on this one.

Understood. Jerry never let's it get that far.
That's why ultimately it will be the same.

It applies.
It's exactly the same.

Sitting out to get the deal. No difference.

If he sits out forts two games and we lose. Jerry will knee jerk, it will have backfired. He will pay more for Dez.

You are fudging with possible Super Bowl 50 win.
You are fudging with Romo's legacy.

He can't
If he sets out that money is gone and after July 15 jerry can't sign him till the season is over
The enmitt deal was nothing like this situation. He could get a deal by setting out, dez can't. At least not till next year

I agree with them being cautious but Dez has earned it. He makes our offense go round. If people can put 8 in the box it doesn't matter how good our line is. Players like Dez, Romo, Smith, Fred, Martin you pay them with no remorse. Don't get cute and over think it.

Hope that isn't true. Dez does not have "Bugatti" type of money. The annual maintenance for that car is around 40k and a new set of tires runs 80-100k.

Yes, he can buy one now but it would be super irresponsible on his part. If he spends that kind of dough on that, wonder what else he would splurge for :(

What? We can't negotiate after the 15th. So sitting out accomplishes nothing

Initial guarantees, they may be set. But the article mentioned subsequent guarantees down the line.

Don't think Dez wants them down the line he wants them all now. The Cowboys want to protect themselves Jerry doesn't want to give Dez a lot of money upfront and have to worry about getting burned. If Dez feels like he's going to behave himself he should have no problem with a contract that pays him well but protects the team.

I really don't think there's much concern with Dez off the field anymore, and I don't think the org. thinks there is, either. Contract negotiations are difficult, especially when it's (likely) setting a new bar.

Agree almost 100%. My pure speculation is that the Cowboys mistrust the people around Dez, not so much the man himself.

These things always come down to the deadline most times with this team anyway.

Why aren't we constantly hearing about how Demaryius isn't signed yet? Off-field issues, or just a tough negotiating scenario?

• Thomas signed his tender.
• Thomas didn't threaten to hold out into the season.
• Thomas doesn't play for the Cowboys.

Reported talks between representatives for wide receiver Dez Bryant and Dallas Cowboys management yielded "no progress" over the weekend, according to Bleacher Report analyst Jason Cole.

Cole, an NFL insider citing unnamed sources, said the Cowboys are not budging from their long-term offer, worth "approximately $20 million guaranteed and subsequent guarantees later on."

The Cowboys placed the franchise tag on Bryant this offseason, but he has yet to sign the tender which will net him nearly $13 million next season. The deadline is July 15 for the Cowboys to reach a long-term deal with Bryant.

Bryant has threatened to sit out the first game of the season if no such deal is in place.

Cole said there were three main reasons no progress was made:

1. The Cowboys believe Bryant is bluffing about missing games.

2. The Cowboys believe Bryant "ultimately needs the money."

3. The Cowboys are encouraged by Bryant's appearances at camp this offseason.

OK if Jerra and Dez would allow me I could manage Dez's monies in a frugile (i think that is an italian word) way that would allow Dez to live within his means.
My guidelines would be:
1. No investing in any rapper or his or her recording projects
2. No saggy pants because monies fall out of the pockets
3. No entourages. First family want monies, then friends, then neighbors want the monies then friends of friends. Me. if i controled his monies i would cap-slap all off them and say: "ever one here gets $100 and that is it." Then I would also hand out fruit baskets and appease them.
4. I would tell Dez his is no Megatron (yet) so take it easy.
5. I would tell Jerra that Dez is a rare talent (Dez say so), so gift him a raise and say, 2% of Jerra's holdings in the Cowboys.
I half a lot of ideas. I hope Jerra and Dez would consider me as the monies manger and give peace a chance.

Also, i dont belief Dez will sit out no games. Jason say he is passionate about the game, half a great work ethic and loves the cama . .. camor . . . the team concept. so there is no chance he would miss a game since it is about passion and not the money.
Also I would promise Dez a weekly night out at local Gold Corrals where he could eat until satiated and he could bring his family.
It is so simple. Jerra, Dez, let's talk and keep this team together.

signed, a good neighbor who love football.

What concerns do they have with him on the field?

I was responding to the guy who said they gave all those other players big money because they didn't have OTF concerns.

If Dez feels like he's going to behave himself he should have no problem with a contract that pays him well but protects the team.

Dallas could initially guarantee 26m and then give him a option bonus of 15m on March 1st 2017.

That would essentially guarantee with all bonuses and salaries included 52m by March 2017. That is a pretty fair deal compared with being tagged 2-3 times.

Absolutely, neither Dez nor his agent should have any problem with a solid up front guarantee and additional guarantees shortly down the line in a time from that would either pay Dez a good chunk again or have him as a young free agent with value.

That won't get it done Dez wants a lot more than $26M guaranteed upfront. He's probably looking for closer to $40M guaranteed.

The mistake on Ratliff was signing him to a 3rd deal.

Totally different situations. A guy coming off his rookie contract having established himself as one of the most dominant players at his position - a guy who is among the hardest workers in the building? That's the guy you just have to go all in with
