That is not a fair compromise. That is re-setting the market(CJ doesn't count).

That would be a gigantic deal and a gigantic risk if the 40m is fully guaranteed.

when is the guaranteed money not fully guaranteed?

when is the guaranteed money not fully guaranteed?

All of it varies. Some is fully guaranteed for injury and performance, meaning if you get cut or injured you get all of it.

Some is just guaranteed for injury.

Some isn't guaranteed right away. Romo had 40m fully guaranteed at signing and another 15m staggered over the next 2 offseasons.

The League requires that if any money is fully guaranteed, cash has to be put into an escrow account to cover it. That is one of the holdups with Russell Wilson and the Seahawks. His agent wants up to 100% guaranteed, but Paul Allen doesn't do business that way.

Assuming Dez gets tagged in 2016 also, Dez and the Cowboys would be looking at basically a 2 year, $29M all guaranteed ($13 M for 2015 and $16M for 2016).

If it were my money, I would be hesitant to drop $100M over 7 years with $40M guaranteed on a WR. I would prefer to wait one year or two and let the WR market settle and find out how much Thomas, Jones, Green, and Jeffery will be getting. Also, I don't know if high paid late twenty-something WRs are going to get you to the promised land. Tough call, either way.

If they can find better players at the position then i'd be fine with moving on from McClain & Hardy, they're ultra talented but they are the biggest red flags on the team.

Seriously? I wouldn't be fine with them leaving especially if they can't be replaced. This isn't madden football.

Co-sign his purchases?

That's what the local news in San Antonio has reported lately. They indicated Jerry has co-signed his checks.

To me, it indicates the team wants to avoid his getting negative publicity due to bad checks.

Although not a huge fan of Fisher personally, I have faith in his info when it comes to Dez Bryant. From my experience, he has a close connection with the player, so I trust in what he has to say here.

I think this deal happens today.

Fisher does not have a pleasant personality, but he has generally had good accuracy in reporting about the Cowboys. He has screwed himself in the past year because he has allowed some of his minions that work for his website to make statements and imply that Fisher was backing them up and some of those statements have been dead wrong; Nonetheless, when the statement comes directly from Fisher, it is generally more likely to be accurate than most other media, IMO.

I know that he works really hard to maintain relationships with some people in the Cowboys organization. If Broaddus and Fisher made opposite statements about the Cowboys in regards to inside type info, I would always tend to believe Fisher over Broaddus just based on their track records.

7 years / $100m ($14.2/year) with $30-40m guaranteed seems like a wonderful and fair compromise.

That's very fair to both sides. Jerry needs to get this done. Dez earned that money by his production.

Personally, I don't care for his thin-skin when questioned. I would expect someone in the public eye to be smarter than that and to act with more maturity.

He is a radio guy. He's got to put on a show. Radio guys tend to have a little more "flair" and drama compared to other media. Maybe not as much as the SAS, Rome, and Bayless ilk but they have to keep people interested

I don't think the nfl would allow that. Wouldn't that be circumventing the cap?

You tell me -- just passing on what I had heard on the news. If it goes unchallenged, I'd say perhaps not. If it becomes an issue, we'll see. Maybe Jerry got legal advice before doing so -- I couldn't say. I would think that as long as Dez made good on it, there wouldn't be an issue to begin with.

Bleacher Report yellow journalism....WARNING....WARNING

LOL -- Well, it wouldn't be the first time such a thing ever happened. Having worked for a newspaper in the past, I'm fully aware it's much more commonplace than the average Joe might think. It's also quite common to take for granted what's being said or printed by the media. If I've been guilty of doing so, mea culpa.

For me, it's more of how he lashes out at people whenever he's dared to be questioned. On Twitter in particular. It seems that he can't handle any sort of criticism.

So we have one thread that says the deal is eminent as soon as after this coming weekend ... And this thread which states both are at a stalemate ..
Are either one accurate? Or is it one is for the optimists and one for the pessimists with truth somewhere in the middle ... LOL
