The most gorgeous stadium in all of the NFL and it can't get anyone to bite on the terms for naming rights. Yes the economy is bad but if we were the champs it wouldn't matter. Apparently being the most popular team in the league does not count either.

Jerry made his statement today confirming that our new stadium will be called Cowboys stadium. He said it was obvious, simplistic and right. Even the premier master marketer of North America's brightest league is having trouble naming his price.

It's not because there is not interest, or a lack of bigger and better. It's because of lack of results and no business wants to be associated with that. So in saying so. You better believe Jerry gets these troops going, starving for results. The dog and pony show is up and this is as big an indicator as any over the last year to 12 seasons.

Better believe it, this gets under Jerry's skin more than anything and it's what it is going to take for this whole franchise to wake up. He laughed at Mike Brown when he could not secure a naming rights contract for his stadium because that's a serious slap in the face to an owner in this league.

Jerry done be pissed off folks. We better win a trophy! We need too. They're all considering who America's team really is.

I'm kinda wondering why he didn't name it "America's Stadium"... :D j/k of course. That would have been a pretty arrogant move. :p:

:D From a marketing stand point. That would probably be the smartest thing he could do. Piss so many teams off and probably make so many people mad they would by the naming rights or at least be the company to take over "America's Stadium".

The smart move is to wait for a better offer in 2010 when the economy gets better. It's not going to be a one year deal.

Jerry has had offers, they just weren't for enough loot.

I think it should be called "Cowboys Stadium" fo the life of the facility. I never liked the teams stadiums being linked to a corporate logo....that sucks...Quest Field, Qualcomm Stadium, etc...

JJ spent a cool mil a day to have it built so he can call it whatever the hell he wants....I hope he doesn't bow to corporate interest...although I know he wants to make a buck...or several.

Oh, that is the truth. But, Jerry used to be able to name his price and he's obviously holding out for a better long term deal. But we wouldn't usually have to. We actually had something in principle with Bank of America and that didn't go through because of the "economy"

But if the team delivered something last season, there's no way we wouldn't have the contract done up. It's more about what the sponsor is associated with as opposed to the money when you're talking about the Bank of America. We need to get some results. Companies bank on results.

I think the OP is right. This is really going to pee Jerry off and this whole team is gonna get some serious programming. In house programming at its finest. I look at how quiet things have been in comparison to last year at this time and I think the in house programming is already launched.

This has everything to do with the economy and public perception.

This naming rights deal was supposed to exceed $400 million.

If a company is going to shell out $400 million+ for naming rights, they'd better be in impeccable, rock solid financial shape, and even then it's a move that would likely get horrible P.R. in this economy.

No one wants the negative pub of spending an exorbitant amount on what most think is an unnecessary expenditure.

I think the main issue for the naming rights is the price tag in this economy NOT the fact that we aren't the champs...

You really think no one wants to buy naming rights because of the team's results? Not so.

The Cowboys are the premiere sporting franchise in the world. Jerry is just waiting for the right offer.

I don't think you understand business. A (smart) business would rather be the most popular product, not the best. As long as we're the most popular it honestly doesn't matter whether we win or lose.

It is DEFINITELY the current economic landscape. Large companies, especially banks, are being tarred and feathered for "unnecessary" spending. Whatever company bought the rights would be tarred and feathered in the media.

I doubt it.

What is there to be pissed about? The events in that place will make more money than the name ever could.

As soon as they start backing up the dumptrucks full of gold, I doubt Jerry even cares about the name.

I disagree. It's the economy and company's reluctance to tell their stockholders they're spending hundreds of millions on naming rights. It's not because we are not superbowl champs. Even bad teams stadiums got corporate sponsors in good economic times. Even the Cardinals.

Yessir . These corporations/institutions everyone on this thread are talking about control the economy and media. It's more about perception than money. The perception is, it isn't worth the money being asked for. Even in a bad economy, a good investment is still a good investment. The Dallas Cowboys stadium is not a good investment in conjunction with today's economy.

With today's economy, is the stadium still worth what Jerry originally paid for it? Who knows. More perception than economy. Roast away brilliant ones.

If they could prove they'd get a very good ROI on that naming rights investment, regardless of the economy being good or bad, the deal would be signed. Marketing is all perceptive value and the asking price is higher than the perceptive value.

That is a combination of economy, ROI and the results of the team the possible sponsor would associate themselves with in that regard. If you guys want to believe investors don't make good investments in bad economies than good luck. The truth is, this is exactly when they invest because the deals are out. Naming rights to Cowboys Stadium just isn't a deal that gives you excellent ROI and that's the perception out there. Rightfully so.

So Jerry waits and hopes for 2010. Bought the construction of the stadium during the peak of real estate though. It will stay afloat and will be worth more in the better days, but so far the ROI is not what Jerry originally foreseen when he was proposing this to the many investors to get this going. Good excuse, bad results so far. Disagree all you want when it comes to facts. Don't just pull out 1 point either, because not 1 is whole without the whole post.

Nobody wants to buy Jerry's asking price for the naming rights. Say the OP is wrong all you want. Blame it solely on the economy all you want. Investors invest when their investments will yield a good ROI. Regardless of economy, period......
