Jerry sure did love him some Broncos yesterday.

Makes me wonder if he's already looking at Nolan to replace Wade next season as the head coach in Dallas.

So basically replace Wade with a worse version of Wade?

I'm quite sure he was impressed by Wade's defense in 2006 before he hired him.

As far as replacement coaches go, the one probable and logical one I can think of if we get a new head coach next year is Norv Turner as an OC. Same offense so we won't have to change much and he'll do wonders for Romo.
I think SD is gonna be bad this year and I don't see him surviving there.

Nolan, what?

After Singletary has gotten the Niners on the right track with mostly the same players?

Been thinking the same thing on Norv, though, newnation. I'm very anti-Garrett, but if we did promote him, I'd hope Norv got fired and he could come here. I much prefer his offense to RJ's.

Norv will never be the head coach in Dallas.

Nolan is 50. Wade is 62.

Nolan has had one HC job so far. Wade has had 3.

I doubt Jerry is giving up on the 34 with this roster.

And I don't think Jerry is in love with 'this offense' lately as it is so why does he want to keep it around.

I thought I made it clear about Norv being an offensive coordinator for us in my post.

And ready chocolabs comments as far as the Nolan issue goes. His he really what you want as an HC? Over Shanahan?

Nolan will not be a head coach here. Some are better at coordination (see Wade Phillips) than being in charge for everything.

I think Norv is would be a great fit. You also know, like Wade, Norv would never get another head coaching gig, so he can be a mainstay as a coordinator till he retires in some Jim Johnson/Dick Lebeau kind of ensconcing.

In a similar way, some other team trying to use a 3-4 might find a long term gem in Wade if he's let go.

I can't believe, me in my optimistic ways, I'm dabbling in some coaching change talk 4 games into the season.

Great hire a guy who did a terrible job in San Francisco. The Cowboys need a coach like Singletary who'll kick them in the ***.

I agree with you as far some coordinators not making good coaches, ie wade. on the same hand is it not possible that some good hc would not make good coordinators. could that be what we have with garrett? i really don't know but have wondered about it. for that reason i would like to see wade replaced with garrett now and just see what we have in garrett, probably nothing but imo if good coordinator does not = good coach it might work the other way around...just rambling babble from a confused fan...

I said this before we hired that space filler they call Wade but no one listened. Enjoy watching what could have been enjoy success in San Fran... :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Oh that's right.. We're supposed to be speculating on forward movement and not saying I told ya so...

In that case...

Just get Wade the hell outta here... That would be a positive 1st step.

I was one of the few who campaigned for Jerry the Joke to hire Mike Singletary....

I thought Nolan was a great hire in San Fran. Boy was I wrong. For whatever reason he could not get that team turned around. Does that mean he isn't HC material? No. Does that mean I want to gamble a couple of years as our HC finding out? No.

no way, no how! nolan was a disaster in his handling of the niners qB situation and his handling of the team.

I think we make a run at Cowher.

His coaching style fits our personnel, not only on defense, but on the O-Line and with the running game.

Plus, Jerry wants to sell tix. He wants 90,000+ for every single game. And he wants an occasional 105,000+ each year. Tough to do that without a big name coach. Cowher is really the biggest name out there given he won the SB in '05. Plus, he's had great success with absolutely lousy QB's like Bubby Brister, Tommy Maddox, Neil O'Donnell, Kordell Stewart, etc. Even a mediocre version of Romo is better than most of the QB's he's had. And he's that tough and intense disciplinarian we all want and he's only 53 years old.

His offenses are not too different schematically from Garrett's. I don't think Jerry cares to be on the hook for $3 mill/year for Garrett when he's not the O-Coordinator, so you get a guy like Cowher who keeps Garrett on and forces the offense to run more.

Cowher is the perfect fit for a stupid, undisciplined team with no heart.

If we don't get him, physical, blue-collar disciplined teams will have their way with us.

My fear is Jerry leans towards the QB groomer type coach and leaves the D out to dry.

Can't believe we didn't hire Capers last year because Stewart was too insecure.
