I tried to simply do this FS Mock by BAP.

I assumed for this exercise that:
1. Dallas doesn't re-sign Murray
2. Dallas uses a good bit of their resources to add DL help through free agency.

That isn't an entirely unreasonable scenario, and if it did happen that way, I could see a "best available" draft similar to this one:
__________________________________________________

27: R1P27
RB MELVIN GORDON
WISCONSIN

60: R2P28
CB KEVIN JOHNSON
WAKE FOREST

91: R3P27
OLB PAUL DAWSON
TCU

124: R4P28
DT GABE WRIGHT
AUBURN

155: R5P27
CB JOSH SHAW
USC

211: R7P19
ILB STEPHONE ANTHONY
CLEMSON

218: R7P26
CB LADARIUS GUNTER
MIAMI

Gordon could easily be the best available player at 27. I do think he has some very special traits as a runner and while I don't really want to go RB in the first... I do want the team to follow their board, and if they do, Gordon could be sitting right at the top of it at 27. I say that if he is head and shoulders above everyone else, then do it.

I probably like Kevin Johnson better than most at this early point but I think he is going to have a really good spring and he could be BAP in the second.

I really like Paul Dawson too. If he is there in the third, he will no doubt be very good value. He is perfect for Marinelli's scheme and his value to Dallas is probably more than for most teams.

I doubt that Gabe wright will still be there in the 4th but if he is he would be BAP in all likelihood. A Marinelli type DL.

Shaw had the screw up with the false story on helping his cousin, but if he checks out character wise, he is a really nice DB. Could possibly be moved to FS at 6-1, 200 or could be a long corner if he has the talent for CB.

Stephon Anthony is a big hitter who plays with toughness. In the 7th, I would take a look at a thumper like this.

Gunter is yet another long, athletic corner. Physical talent is there to play FS or CB.

Pretty big dollars can be saved if the team wants to cut ties with Murray and Carr and that money spent on DL.

This draft, with a special RB, three talented corners who are all around 6-1, a Marinelli DT, a very talented OLB and a big hitting MLB, I think it would be a solid haul.

I assume that you're also cuttijg Carr and not signing a free agent CB...

I'm uneasy about a RB in the first but it's also somewhat exciting to have your choice of the 1st player off the board at a position.

I'm a big fan of Wright. I like all of the players. Shaw and maybe Gunter could be options to move to FS.

I like your draft, although I don't think several of those players will be available at those spots.

Yeah, that's about the scenario I had in mind in this instance, although I think they could sign a mid-level free agent corner as well. I didn't really look to get 3 corners in the mock but i was going BAP and that's who I liked at those picks.

I had mentioned either Shaw or Gunter moving to FS and I think either of them could. I really like both a lot late in the draft. The problem is as you mentioned... many of them probably won't be there where I took them.

I absolutely love Kevin Johnson and think he will be a fantastic CB. Gordon is beastly and would be a (female dog) to deal with behind this OL. I took him because I was specifically trying to just go best available and there is a good chance his is at the top of Dallas' board if hes there at 27. I'm not crazy about RB in round 1 either though.

Really like Dawson and Wright too and they are ideal fits for Marinelli, but both could go as early as round 2.

I would take that draft but most of those players as you know will probably be picked higher than where you picked them. I can't see Gunter or Lawson being picked in the 3rd and 7th rd.

I would be excited about that draft assuming they really did add some DE talent in Free Agency.
