This morning when Norm had Goose on they were talking about teams avoiding players with character in the draft. Goose, mentioned Darren McFadden and DeSean Jackson. Now, McFadden's off the field issues had been well documented but that's the first I've heard about any negative issues with DeSean Jackson.

Anyone else hear that and more importantly does anyone know what he could be alluding to?

I stopped paying attention to Goose a long time ago.

He wasn't allowed to start the game against Air Force due to a violation of team rules, but that's about all I know of.

Although a google search did bring up this:

Robert Jordan - Tag Story Index - USATODAY.com

[SIZE=-1]DeSean Jackson and Robert Jordan returned from their first-quarter benchings and caught ... and wrongly arrested him in the 2004 Madrid terrorist bombings. ...
www.usatoday.com/community/tags/topic.aspx?req=tag&tag=Robert Jordan - 68k -

However I imagine there is a lot of information lost in that first ellipses lol.

Thanks, that was quite insightful and really helped answer his question!

He reportedly has a bit of an attitude problem (if you see it as a negative), as well.

A Michael Irvin attitude problem or a Antonio Bryant Attitude problem?

Thanks. That's the hardest I've laughed in a while... :laugh2: :laugh2: :laugh2:

Now that is a character red flag. We give McFadden a hard time for getting in a scuffle at a piano bar while DeSean Jackson is working with Al Qaeda in terrorist bombings.

You mean a stabbing people in the neck with scissors problem or a throw his jersey in your face problem?

The Madrid bombing thing was a link to another story that included an FBI agent named Robert Jordan, not the Robert Jordan who played at Cal.

I figure if Barack Obama can be a terrorist then so can DeSean Jackson.

Picked this up from NFL.com

"Highly motivated and intense player who works to finish and is not afraid of contact, but needs to tone down his emotions (gets caught up in trash talk and is taken out of his game when he spends too much time jawing with an opponent)". Nothing mentioned of issues with the law.

That's a bad sign. I can't think of a single successful WR in the entire NFL who likes to trash talk and thinks too highly of himself.

I'm assuming the references were to his 'attitude' issues...He's been well documented to be a bit of a prima donna at Cal and has been suspended for conduct detrimental to the team...Kinda one of those guys where when things are good, he's in line but if not, a problem...Not Antonio Bryant problem but problem.

If I'm a GM, I'm maybe more concerned about the fact that he's under 5'10" and 169 lbs...The Steve Smith argument comes to mind but then again, there aren't a lot of Steve Smith's...Or, that he's had a history of thigh/hamstring problems...recurring, mind you.

Cal fans will tell you that when push came to shove in big games, Desean wasn't there so take it for what it's worth.

He doesn't have a "bad" personality problem, he just has a bit of an ego and he's a bit of a primo dona. Some have called him a "pretty boy" WR, since he's a finesse type player that doesn't like to be played physically. I've read that he only runs the routes that he likes to run, and if asked to run a route that's not appealing to him he'll loaf (ala R.Moss). Also, he doesn't like blocking or going over the middle. These aren't real character issues, he's just a finesse type of player.

Is it the same Robert Jordan who blew up the fascists' bridge in For Whom the Bell Tolls?

(believe me, that's hilarious if you were an English Lit major :) )

I'd rather have Lavelle Hawkins in the 2nd than DeSean Jackson at #22.

I read in article in ESPN the magazine he wanted to go to USC but turned them down due to thme not giving his jersey number because it was promised to another recruit. According to the article that kind of spurn him and motivated him to bring out his A game against USC.
