of COURSE we are...which is why Tony has the numbers he's put up..and also why he has lost some games...because more often than not Tony HAS TO WIN THE GAME

The Cowboys' situation can be summarized thusly:

1) The Cowboys offense is too mistake-prone, and the mistakes aren't limited to Romo.

2) The defense simply isn't very good. Its talent has been crassly overrated for a number of years.

3) The coaching, which receives far too much blame (in my opinion), lacks the ability to coach up substandard talent.

It all shakes out to about .500, which is what the Cowboys have been in 3 of the past 4 seasons and since their 3-0 start last season.

This is just another knee jerk reaction.

The guys we have are talented enough to win with. I think the infussion of new players is taking a longer time to adjust to than what we anticipated.

Jenkins and Scandrick are only second year players. Neither started last year. They have ability, but they still need experience.

Sensabaugh is new. Brookings is new. Olshansky is new.

Spencer was hurt much of last year, and still this is only his third year and I like what I've seen from him.

That's 5 new starters on defense.

I am concerned about Hamlin. He just doesn't seem to make many plays.

Yeah, Norm, like every other team in the NFL has 9 superstar starters on defense??

A bit myopic there. Most teams, even the good defenses, have a couple of stars, a couple of good guys, a lot of average players, and a few that need help or have to be covered for.

Doesn't excuse the screw ups, but be real about it.

Maybe fans have overrated the Cowboys defense, but no one else outside of the organization has thought they were a great defense.

There were expectations of greatness due to the play of some of the great players, but it's never been a great defense. It's always been solid. Even in 2007, the team allowed 20 ppg. That's middle of the road numbers.

If the team could continue to field a middle of the road defense, then the team will win some games. If they continue to be a sieve as they've been the last three games, then this is going to be a long season no matter what Romo & co does.

Very good points! I was thinking along the same lines. The Cowboys defense has been average for some time now. Most us thought it would be much better under Wade but it just hasn't happened. Too many players drafting on defense the last few years for this team to be just average.

I think Spencer is the real key here. He gets pressure, but when you're going 1 on 1, you need to get sacks to relieve pressure off of DW. TE are not only chipping him, they are staying in to fully block along with the tackles. Teams are not trying to slow him down now, they are trying to completely shut him down because they know they can protect 1 on 1 on the other side. Spencer needs to sack the QB, period.

I agree. Ware is the one team must plan against and they will have success doing that if Spencer does not step up

Jenkins and Scandrick are still young, but you play them. That is how you get better. You have growing pains. Newman has seen a few plays go against him. Phillips needs to do a better job of protecting his CBs. There is no shame in putting your safeties deep. That is what other teams do to us. The end of the Tampa Bay game, at the half, is one example. Put the safety over there and give them no hope. Newman had a great game, except for the play with seconds left in the half where he kind of slowed down and that guy made that diving catch. Why leave him alone there at that point in the game. It was unnecessary, imo.

Spencer was blocked by Ellis, so he's still developing.

That is the price you pay when you don't get these guys into the lineup, starting, when you get them.

Where are the sacks? Two games, no sacks. That better change, fast.

Run the football. You have three running backs. Use them, especially Felix Jones.

Protect your defense better.

Don't turn the ball over 4 bloody times.

The Giants scored 14 points off 2 INTS and 21 points came after INTs.

I think Bradie James is the weak link to me...he never makes any game changing plays....when you run the 3-4 your linebackers are your playmakers...Ellis and Ware made plays...James and whoever they line up next to him never make any game changing plays....

Have to disagree, I dont think Hamlin could tackle me, and I am almost eligible for AARP.

they do the same thing over and over again... Ware and Spencer around the tackles 7yrds deep while the QB sets up 5 yards deep!

the CBs play bump and run with out the bump...

the DEs cant push the pocket or force the QB to move in the pockett
