Beating Oakland. Jeez, dude. Big deal.

Have any of you read his book Greatest Team Ever about the 90s Cowboys? I thought it would be great but it is full of glaring errors, and photos placed in the wrong spot or from the wrong year and whatnot. It's a pretty frustrating read. On the whole it's good for a noob fan, but we historians will hate it.

I'm with you on that. I got the book, I am bout 1/3 through it and can not believe the number of mistakes in it. The pictures are great, and it is a good read for the memories, but don't ever use it for reference.

Curious, what are some of the mistakes, some that stand out?

I'll get a list of them together and post them later. Maybe tomorrow.

So, back to the postgame show... Why was he riled up about the Pack beating the craptastic Raiders at home?

He was just saying how great they look and all that. And I'm thinking, big deal, against the Raiders?

Here is a list of the errors I found in the book:
1. Lots of late 90s and 2000s photos even though the book is about the 1991-1995 Cowboys.
2. Pg. 33, Says Emmitt Smith was a two-time Super Bowl MVP
3. Pg. 37, calls kicker Ken Willis "Kevin Willis."
4. Pg. 38, Issaic Holt's name is incorrectly spelled Isaac.
5. Pg. 43, Referring to the 1991 Dallas vs. Washington game: "Washington had whipped Dallas eleven consecutive times at home." Dallas had beaten Washington 7 out of 11 times at RFK in the regular season: 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1985, 1988, 1989.
6. Pg. 89, in lead up to 1993 NFC Championship game when Jimmy Johnson called Randy Galloway's radio show with special guest Dan Reeves, Norm refers to Reeves as the coach of the Broncos when in fact he was coach of the Giants.
7. Pg. 103, Incorrectly states that Cowboys were 3-13 in 1989 and 1-15 in 1990!!! 3-13 in 1988, 1-15 in 1989, 7-9 in 1990.
8. Pg. 153, Incorrectly gives the score of 1995 NFC Divisional Playoff win over Philly as 36-11- it was 30-11.
9. Pg. 156, incorrectly states that a platform was erected in the locker room for the Super Bowl championship celebration. The platform was on the field when Switzer did the infamous "We did it!" spiel.
10. In the stats section Pct. Int and Int are transposed, so that Ints are recorded in the spot for percentages and vice versa.

I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones I found.

Ah, the crap that passes for journalism shows that it is transferable to book writing as well. Pathetic. :bang2:

That's suprising. Seems like he would send it around to a few "Cowboys experts", fans of the team who would pick out errors like that.

well you have to give them credit, they took care of business in impressive fashion, whereas we struggled and could have easily lost

there's still 3 more games though...these next two are the one's I am most concerned with...both teams (Philly and Carolina) have nothing to play for and Philly is coming off a gut wrenching loss of their own...we have alot to play for (1st rd bye and HFA)...we should win these two convincingly. If we struggle and screw around as we did yesterday, its probably not a good omen for the playoffs...its not always the case, but usually championship teams get on a roll...they dont flounder into the postseason

That one about Washington had me flabbergasted. That would have meant they had beaten us at RFK every year since 1980. I don't know what he was trying to say, but he really messed the bed on that one.

You're right about those mistakes in the book. The basic theme of the book is in the beginning to lay out a detailed argument, that the cowboys of the early 90's are the best ever.He takes their 5 years from 91-95 and puts it up against the best 5 years of other dynasty franchises. He makes one hell of an argument. The rest of the book is the story from 91-95.He interviewed quite a few players and coaches from that time.Yes,there are mistakes with names, and certain scores in the story part of it,but not enough to make it a terrible book.As far as pictures being misplaced,I don't know, but the pictures alone make the book.Anyone who is a big cowboy fan will love the pictures in this book.

Norm isn't negative at all about the cowboys in this book.He is claiming the early to mid nineties cowboys are the greatest ever.
