NO WAY on earth does Rivera make a lateral move to Dallas to be Norv's DC, even if he gets his salary upped to 7 Figures...NO WAY .

He will wait until 08' if need be. IMO this is a powerploy by Norval...

Ron Rivera is OVERDUE for an NFL HC job - plain and simple. And Norval has already had his chances.

If Rivera is not announced as the Dallas HC on Tuesday Nite - well then we are in deep , deep , deep trouble with a Staff of JGarrett - OC, TBowles - DC -, and Norval as HC.

Ron Rivera should be our next Head Coach - bottomline.

Even though Rivera said he would be willing to take a lateral move, and Dallas was his fav team growing up etc.

You are right, I believe you over Rivera about what Rivera would be willing to accept

Wrong wrong wrong - per usual.
When presented this scenario today , after Rivera heard about it from his wife, he replied in a surprised manner and paid it no mind.

not shocker that he would shrugg it off considering it was in a press conference less then a week from the SB.

Making a lateral move does nothing to hurt his chances as a HC. Only way he does hurt himself is if he can't do what he said he could and that was run the dallas defense and if thats the case then he really shouldn't be considered for a HC job elsewhere.

Wait you mean a coach 3 days from the superbowl said in a public press conference that he was not tampered with by the team he wants to go to?

Because as we all know the quickest way to get a job is admitt dallas tampered with you against league rules :lmao2:

Actually you are wrong.

Rivera has went on the record and said he knows he must make a name for himself AWAY from Lovie Smith in order to get the respect he deserves in becoming a HC.

So you are WRONG, WRONG, and more WRONG.

You say no way but rest assured Jerry's gonna at least give him the big time sell job on it because thats exactly the scenario he wants right now. Norv HC/Rivera DC.

Let's look at the Rivera situation in another light. Rivera's contract has expired so would he not be trying to gain all the attention he possibly can?

He could be very serious about making a lateral move but then again he may be trying force the Bears hand just to see just how serious they are in retaining his services.

The more demand for a person the bigger the contract. So for him to be putting his name out there simply sounds like good business to me. We could very easily find ourselves in a bidding war w/Chicago for Mr Rivera.

Honestly, the only way Rivera gets a HC job is if he's successful on his own running the defense. That's not gonna happen in Chicago with Lovie Smith having a say in all defensive decisions. Here, Norv will defer to him in all defensive matters. If he's successful, he'll move on to a head job in 2008 somewhere else. Jerrah will sell him on this and raise his pay substantially. Let's see what happens.

Option 1: Stay in Chicago and get paid chump change, while being under the shadow of Lovie.

Option 2: Go to Dallas and make significantly more money, while getting 100% credit for a defense that is full of talent.

It is of course pure non-sense that anyone would choose Option 2.

I think Jerry has a shot to sell Rivera on the DC job (at a minimum). As stated already, that would mean Rivera as DC, Norv as HC and Garrett as OC. We'll see.

I doubt it because the Bears are going to have to rework Lovie Smith's contract before getting into a bid war over their DC.

One problem in this Rivera as DC scenario is the fact that the Bears have a 3 week exclusivity window to negotiate with Rivera after the SB. Dallas wouldn't be able to talk to him about a lateral move until the end of February. Then again, Jerrah seems to have Todd Bowles in his back pocket if the Rivera deal falls through. But, I'm not totally comfortable waiting on a DC until the end of this month.

Jones could still talk to Rivera sooner and risk compensatory punishment but I don't know if it would stick because the Bears did not extend Rivera's contract. It's not as if they showed a desire or a willingness to renew his contract all season.

You are probably correct because there is No doubt, to keep Lovie it is going to cost them a bundle.

Keeping the Superbowl staff in tact will cost them an even larger bundle. :)

I love when people try to deny what coaches have already said they would do ......
