How about a thread for those that are excited to have Norv back and are willing to at least give him a chance if it happens. It would be nice to discuss this possible move among supporters with out the debate.

Of course I don't expect this thread to make it past post 2 or 3 with out the idea being blown up but it's worth a try.:(

He gets a chance with me. If we win fewer than 9 games with Turner, though, there better be a damn good reason why.

I agree totally. I'm not sure there are many coaches who can't win 9 games with this team but I want to see what he brings to the table that Bill did not. If he can spend 2 years here fixing the OL and adding youth at WR while expanding on what Bill started and doing what he can't i would consider it a successful 2 years.

If Jerry thought Norv knew anything about talent acquisition, he would have hired him as head coach in 2003 instead of Parcells.

Thank you, good sir, for providing this thread. I am THRILLED that Norv Turner may finally get to return to big D and work his magic for this team. It is almost as if the universe has smiled.

I can't say I'm excited because of his track record. What concerns me with Norv isn't his ability to design a game plan to expose the weaknesses of the other team. It's his ability to motivate, instill discipline, and pay attention to details. Another thing that concerns me is whether he can garner the respect of the personnel on our team, especially a guy like T.O., and whether he can handle problems concerning the latter and other members of the team if issues arise. I don't really look at his time in Oakland to make a judgement. That's been wiped away from history as far as I'm concerned.

But, his 'Skins teams prior to Danny boy had what seemed to be problems of discipline. Was it his fault? I'm not really certain, because the talent on those teams was pretty bad. Shhhh, don't tell that to the 'Skins fans on ES because they think their talent is all world every year. He seemed to lose a lot of close games there. Maybe the fact that they didn't do well was because of the personnel and not the coaching. I mean, look at our team this year. We had so many penalties, and Tuna was supposed to be that disciplinarian where those type of things just don't happen. So, maybe it just was the personnel. If so, then that doesn't bode well for our team either. :(

I'm not really certain what to expect. I'm cautiously optimistic. I would like his return to cause a reinstallment of that '90s magic, but lightning usually doesn't strike twice in the same place.

Wanna make a bet?...

We're about to hire a coach with a .412 record...

I'd put money on the under...

To bad Norv wasnt a little more patient because he wouldve been a Superbowl Champion Head Coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Also say what ever you want about his time in Oakland but there isnt a coach whos ever been born that could have won under those circumstances they had in Oakland.

They signed to many old players to big contracts to make the push at the Superbowl and it was over after that and they wont recover for another 3 years at least.
