Let's hope the rumors of Norv being the guy are false. Hiring Norv (or Wade Phillips) would be a huge mistake. Both of these guys have had their shots at the head coaching position (multiple times The Prophet might add), and both have failed to deliver. Sorry Norv apologists, just callin like I see 'em.
We've just gotten through 4 years of middling .500 seasons with a supposed coaching legend. What in the world makes some around here think that Norv (or Wade) can deliver, when their track record is horrid? At least one could argue that BP had actually won a couple of SB's, even though his reign here was more in line with Campo and Gailey as opposed to Johnson or Landry.
No gents, this team needs a fresh, new approach - not some tired old retreads who have already proven to be failures at the head coaching position. Give the job to Garrett or roll the dice with some other promising upstart versus giving it to Norv or Wade.
Thoughts?

I hope the rumors are real. I feel confident that they are.

Retread huh? Like Belechick was?

How many years has Norv had at the head coaching position to become a winner? Hmmm???? Trust me, he is no Belichek. Far from it. He is what his record is.

what moment in his career makes you think Turner is even remotely similar to Belichick?!

Just because one retread out of who knows how many turns things around, doesn't mean every single one of them can. Especially when this particular retread has had, what, 9 years of sucking on resume?

Norv started with a team in shambles and a 4-12 record. Belechick started with a team that was just above .500.

That tends to make a difference. Fact is, Norv brought the team back to a playoff team and was one play from the Championship game.

What you failed to point out is that Norv took about 5-6 years to even get into the playoffs if memory serves The Prophet correctly (maybe one of our Google search stats members can help me here). Most of his Skins teams were around .500. Of course you failed to mention his stellar performance with the Raiders.
Trust me, Norv is not head coaching material - he's a middling to above average offensive coordinator at best.

LOL. Yeah, in that regard, he bested BP. It only took him 7 years to make it to the playoffs and win a wild card game. LOL. Geez, what a huge mistake JJ is about to make if he hires Norv.

Your post reminds me of a great quote from Buddy Ryan after he cut a 1000 yd rusher when he came to the Eagles. A reporter said, "but Coach Ryan this guy gained a 1000 yds last season". Ryan's response, "yeah with a 1000 carries". LOL.

There are numerous others who we could pull off the street who would probably have more upside than good ole Norv. LOL.

Not sure why anyone on this board would be excited about the prospects of one Norv Turner. Could it be the "loveable loser" factor? LOL.

Bravo!!! Well stated. Right on target. Give the job to Garrett now over Norval. Giibbs would be our best selection. This whole thing is mind numbing. Anyone excited about Norval is a fool.

Are you drunk? C'mon, guy--Norv Turner??? It's not 1993, my friend. This clown has failed twice. Glad we'll give him the opportunity to make it 3 times. LOL

Superpunk, Gibbs would be okay with The Prophet. Going with the 59-83 career record Turner would be like a visit to the dentist. LOL.
