A quote from their new starting QB...

“I feel like this is really between Brett and the organization, and I’m just trying to stay focused on the things I can control,” Rodgers said.

The thing is, this is almost the exact same quote he gave at that golf tournament in Lake Tahoe, nearly to the letter. This is going to seem trivial, but you want your QB to have a little moxie, an ability to voice his own opinion, rather than spew out these cliche statements. Rex Grossman is a master of the cliche statements, and we've seen how that's turned out.

Our boy Romo is the exact opposite, he actually says whats on his mind and that is great news for us. It shows that the situation can never get too big for him, and he will thrive when the going gets rough.

Aaron Rodgers, on the other hand, is going to get eaten alive -- this tiny piece of evidence tells me so. When the going gets rough, he speaks in cliche-filled sentences.

it's fine. he's just trying not to get involved into something that doesn't concern him.

Its not what you say, but what you do. I dont see how this is related to anything on the field?

Their is really nothing more he can say. He doesn't want to get involved in all of this. This has to be a big distraction for the Packers though. Imagine what it would have been like if Favre showed up at training camp on Sunday? lol

He will get eaten alive, mark my words. This is a subtle part of having "it," and he is seriously lacking in that department. A deer in the headlights kind of thing.

QBs need to voice their opinion, not hide from them. Even if he came out and said "You know what? It does piss me off and I really wish I didn't have to deal with it because it is a distraction to me and our team." would be better than the cliches he's hiding behind.

I completely disagree. Why stir the pot when it really has nothing to do with you? Your HC and GM have already said the team moved on and Rodgers is the starter. Just focus on what you're doing and take it one day at a time. All you can do is take care of business and let your play speak for you.

I really want to win that SNF game. It bugs me that we've never won a game in that stadium.

Tony Romo has yet to show up in on the big stage. He wins a playoff game we can start that talk.

What you say can be a window, or a telling sign, of what you'll do. It is more related than you might think.

Again, I don't necessarily expect him to come out thumping his chest -- but the cliches are not a good sign at all.

I dont really think this has any sort of indication over what he will or will not be able to do on the field.

You can speak your own mind without stirring the pot, you can be tactful and still be original. But you've nailed the cliches beautifully! Those are exactly the lines I'm talking about, not one ounce of originality in anything he's saying, not even an ounce. Because the situation is too big for him.

I think anyone who has seen Tony play football these last two years knows full well he can handle the pressure. The two playoff losses are just noise that much of the media hides behind.

They focus on the bobbled snap. What they fail to notice is the fact that he immediately got up, found a soft spot in the defensive front and darn near scored a TD...while everyone else was looking around.

They point to last year's playoff loss without considering that he lofted a beautiful pass to Crayton, who inexplicably let up in the game's closing moments.

If Babineux hadn't made an insanely good play and if Crayton was focused on being where he should have been, we're not questioning his ability to handle pressure at all, we're talking about a great playmaker in the mold of a Joe Montana or Tom Brady. Let's not forget, Brady fumbled the ball against the Raiders, but because of the tuck rule, he is now considered one of the most clutch players of all time. Joe Montana threw what should have been an easy pick against Cincinatti in his final SB win, I mean right in the guys hands. He dropped it, and Joe and the 49ers went on to win their fourth SB.

Trust me, Romo is going to win a TON of playoff games, count on it.

Sounds as if he's been coached and is smart enough to know its the best way to handle this. If he stays out of this he can only be judged by his play. Rodgers gets my respect for keeping his trap shut.

Rogers is following a legend in Green Bay & doesn't want to step in a mess not of his making. He's handling the situation best he can & he's probably staying with the cliche because it's saver & he doesn't trust himself to say what he'd really like to say. Besides, he has nothing to fall back on re his play in the NFL to this point.

Now Romo is a totally different cat from most other NFL QBs. He's a very smart, articulate & confident dude. He better be since he graduated from college with a degree in communications/media relations (?). He's already shown he can make snappy comeback comments whenever he wants w/o creating any hard feelings. Besides, Romo wasn't a big deal in college. So he didn't get molded into the typical NFL QB blah personality. He's interesting to listen too & his personality comes through when he talks along with his ability to communicate very effectively w/o a script in front of him.

Best example: Immediately after the Cowboys win against the Buffalo Bills on MNF when he threw 5 INTs & fumbled, he was interviewed & it very obvious he was just happy the Cowboys had won. Asked how he felt & reminded he threw 5 INTs, he paused for a minute and jokingly said "really, it felt like 7 to me". Most other QBs would have stuttered, been at a loss for words or been downright boring; but he kept his composure & joked about it, and in the process won over a lot of fans & the media. That's why he's such a good interview & why so many media outlets consistently want to interview him or even talk about him. He just fascinates most everyone he comes in contact with but Rogers at this point in his career simply lacks that ability; maybe Romo's laid back attitude/don't take himself too seriously serves him very well in a lot of different situations.

Qb's ultimately are judged on Rings, I think Romo has what it takes. But he is reaching put up or shut up waters.
