Not a huge fan either , but I think he'll be the Cowboys first round pick . He's one of the few players who can come in and contribute from day one . No WR drafted is going to come in and challenge TO and Glenn , but a guy like Ginn can return every kick for you and come in as a 4th WR on day one .

He doesn't have Barry Sanders elusiviness. He is Galloway except not built as thick. If he can produce as well as Galloway then he will be worth drafting. Maybe he can, maybe he can't.

I agree Ginn would be able to come in and contribute as a return man and an extra WR. Should Dallas draft him I could see Ginn one day taking over for Glenn.

I don't understand the negativity, either. He has rare, rare speed... That absolutely jumps out at you when you watch Ohio State. (Though I surely wouldn't claim he has Sanders' elusiveness.) If a knucklehead like Donte Stallworth can go in the teens, I don't see why Ginn wouldn't, too. Ginn looks even faster than Stallworth to me.

(Insert obligatory "Of course, speed isn't everything" claim here.)

It's interesting. I've contended that Ginn makes the most sense if you want to draft a guy in the first round that can produce immediatly. I agree with what both of you say here. However, it really goes beyond that IMO. Most everybody thinks that Owens is a fast guy. I don't really think he is all that fast. He didn't run fast at his combine which is one of the reasons he didn't go high. He has never been a guy who is considered fast but a guy who can catch a ball and take it to the house. Yards off broken tackles vs yards after catch are different. I mean, if you go out and catch a 40 yard sideline and take it another 20 into the endzone untouched, that's a different kind of RAC yards. Ginn is a guy who really brings balance to our team IMO. I never really thought we needed an all world WR but instead, a guy who could force the double over the top with speed. Glenn used to have that kind of speed but now I think he's more quick then flat out fast. Owens, to me, was never that kind of WR. Ginn is a guy who could really even out the offense IMO.

At this point I'm hoping for Ginn at #22. I don't like drafting WR's in the first round, but I don't really have anyone else I like in that range (I liked Nelson a lot before Hamlin).

I've always said draft the guy you think is most likely to end up on the Ring of Honor in the first round, even if they do carry a large bust factor. You can find "solid" and "servicable" hole fillers in free agency, but you can't find special. Striking on one perennial All Pro type of player makes up for a couple of busts. Ginn has special talent, even if he does carry a large bust factor (then again, all WR's do). I'd rather have Ginn's upside over somebody like Jarrett, who also carries huge bust potential but who's ceiling is nothing more than a poor man's Keyshawn. Plus, this would be an ideal situation for Ginn since he wouldn't be asked to contribute immediate as a WR and could spend a couple of years polishing his WR technique and being a difference maker in the return game.

I've seen him play alot over the last few seasons, once in person. He's scary fast-I look at him like Santana Moss. Not physical but doesn't need to be. VERY good value pick IF his foot is sound-has he ran since his injury against Florida?

I would absolutely love it if we draft Ginn. After watching what Hester did for the Bears last year, it would be worth it for our team to draft someone like that in the first round! Now, of course, I say this now as we have filled our most glaring weaknesses. If we had a major hole, I wouldn't say the same thing. But I think he would be the dynamic return man we need, and I could see him being for us what Steve Smith is for Carolina. I could see Ginn and Crayton as our WRs of the future, with Austin and Hurd as quality backups.

Amen, IR.

Another way to look at it is, "Who would I be most worried about if an opponent got him?" Some of these WRs in the draft wouldn't scare me a bit if the Eagles or Giants got them. But if they got Ginn, I'd be worried.

You can't gamble with every pick, but when you're at the bottom of the first like we are, and the guy doesn't have any character or work ethic concerns, I would go with the guy with special talent if he's still there.

From Jerry point of View.......he would sell tickets

Put him in the slot and/or in motion so he can release off the NFL jam at line and he would keep and pull the Safties deeeeppp, ability to roll coverage to one side or another is limited............TO and TG much more effective

and yes the Hester effect.......BP shopped for that his entire time here

What part of the blazing fast, won't-go-over-the-middle 185 lb.-injury risk workout-wonder wideout history did you miss?

Blalock and one of the top safeties will be there at 22.

Ginn is a project. A lot like Devon Hester except Ginn is better at receiver than Hester has ever been at any 1 position and Ginn is still very very Raw.

If you think Ted Ginn Jr has reached his ceiling and is as good as hes going to get then your crazy.

He has the capabilities and athleticism to turn into a Steve Smith type player.

Also he would be huge for us in the return game so he could contribute while sitting behind some guys and learning.

I think he's actually 175. The closest comparison is Rocket Ismail as far as size and speed. But Rocket, Joey Galloway, Terry Glenn, they all were way more productive in college. This guy is raw and is not going to be the best player available at #22.
