Athletes today are trained very well for the combines and on campus workouts we're seeing all these eye candy numbers for each position. But the trick is watching film and games and if he's a player there no matter what 40 time than he's a baller usually. Ireland did a good job last year and I hope our scouts are up to the task again. For us to be successful in the draft

1st We have to get more picks
2nd We need to take BAP ( Best Available Player)
3rd Great value with each selection
4th Film doesn't lie get a good football player regardless of 40 time
5th Character

By "BAP" (note - it's usually referred to as BPA) I hope you mean OLB.

Yeah isnt there a way to "cheat" somewhat on 40 times.... ie. riding a execise bike for a few minutes or running with weights on your feet and then running the 40?

Umm NO, if you're natually fast then you'll do well but I would not call running with weights "cheating", that's just like Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant shooting a 1000 free throws would you call that "cheating"???

the 40 doesnt mean jack for most positions. who cares how fast your de runs a 40, its only the first 10 that matters for a de.

and OLB's it's more sideline to sideline speed. Who cares if he runs a 4.8 at the combine but is a beast at OLB.

Public Service Announcement: 40 speed is but one measure among many. For no position does it mean either everything or "jack".
