There are several things that are indicators also...first, the two teams that Dallas lost too are at the high end of the NFL, as to team strengths. To have lost closely, does indicate that Dallas possesses the team strength to play on an even ground. That there were still problems with a starter and first backup missing in the secondary, and the leading pressure on opposing quarterbacks on the sidelines, could have something to do with not being shut down the entire game against a top offensive producer right now.
Dallas this week, plays a team that is flirting the the very top rungs in NFL history, as to points produced in a single season...New Orleans. No, it's not that indicator that Dallas does not belong in considerations of being a top team. It IS an indicator that for a while now, Dallas has played the very best in the NFL in IT'S final month, December.
That doesn't mean that Dallas can't play with the best and get around it with real intent of playoffs. It does mean that they ARE playing some NFL quality teams at this point in it's schedule. Not all teams entering the playoffs have this to overcome in addition to just accumulating a number of wins.
Then there are some major indicators of an upturned surge. Tony Romo has had his third consecutive 100+ quarterback rating game. Add this with a picture of Miles Austin has already achieved 10 receiving TD's. Many were wondering how Dallas would replace that aspect from the departing TO. Well, in many less games, Austin already has. That is a real source of strength that does project into the future.
