Not seeing a lot of props to the defense

Sure, Oakland moved the ball in the first half, but most of that was from heavily contested passes where the WR just made a good play. They shut them down in the 2nd half, and only allowed 50 yds rushing on 25 attempts. I think they deserve some props. They played a good game, and Lee should be coming back (and hopefully Claiborne too). Maybe now that they're getting healthier they can put some things together, and hopefully at the same time the offense can continue to figure some things out too (why it takes so long I have no idea...well I do but that's another topic).

It's because they suck. Holding a rookie undrafted QB with a banged up O-line to a couple 3 and outs isn't much to crow about.

have you even watched this defense this season? Given up a lot more to a lot less. Im quite pleased with the improvments made at halftime.

allas couldn't hold them on 3rd downs, I didn't think they played good, but they didn't play down right terrible either. To their credit they did get a game changing interception. Thanks Carr.

Hopefully allas can eventually find their D.

The Raiders scored 21 in the first half and 3 in the second. As has been pointed out before, those 600+ yard games are not all on the defense. When the offense can control the clock the way they did in the second half, the other team's offense isn't on the field much. This game is a text book example of why running the ball is important.

From the time we went down 14 points to evening up the score we threw 16 times and ran 5 times. Running the ball only meant anything because we could pass to get back into the game.

Appreciate their effort, but this was one game, I am still in counceling trying to work though the debacle I winessed in New Orleans. Also having flashbacks of the 400 yard passing games against us.

Agreed, hard to imagine an easier opponent, especially at home - almost no pressure applied.

What does your mental health have to do with this teams defensive improvements in the second half?

That being said, Im sure that are greatful that you appreciate their effort though. lol

This defense gets a bit--a bit--of a bum-wrap. They play decent bend-but-don't-break football against teams that don't have strong QBs. Giving up a ton of yards, but stiffening in the red zone and getting key turnovers when we need them. They're also a good scoring defense. The big problem is, against the good teams, we're playing bend-but-break, and that's pretty demoralizing.

The huge yardage totals suck. But point totals suck more. We're 11th right now in points allowed/game. That's bad, but not terrible. Especially when you factor in the takeaways they give us that give points back to the offense.

I was actually referring to the last two possessions the Cowboys had. They used up a lot of the game clock and made Oakland use all of its timeouts on defense. And, while doing so, the defense rested and watched the big screen.

I thought the defense did a decent job. I expect very little from the defense because I know it's horrible. But, they gave up only 17 points. They also got a critical INT and got a turnover to set the offense up with first and goal at the Raiders 2 YL. I know its against the Raiders...but its also our defense. :D Both equally bad.

If this defense holds any team to 17 points, Dallas SHOULD win each and every time. They obviously don't, but with our QB and offensive weapons they should. They played much better in the 2nd half...and overall I think it was an okay performance....probably because I have very low expectations with our defense.

No sacks on a rookie QB, our DL hardly pressured the QB.

Oakland's offense is ranked higher than Dallas'.

Not even close, allas is ranked 5th in PPG and 2nd in RZ TD efficiency. Mean while Oakland is ranked 26th and 15th.

They may move the ball better then us, but our offense is a lot more efficient and it's not even close.

The PPG stat is mostly a result of the turnovers. The Red Zone efficiency is about the only thing the Dallas offense has done well consistently this year. Oakland only got 2 Red Zone opportunities today (3 if you count the interception to Carr which was from the 20), none of which were in the 2nd half. And like I said, almost all of their success was by them making good plays when they were covered well. They are a top running team in the league and they were shut down.

You got the that wrong. We are 22nd in giving away points (25.2 points/gm). That is pretty bad.

The scheme is terrible but I'll give them credit for the effort. They keep fighting and made the stops when they had to. The pass rush was no where to be found but the run d was decent.
