Okay, so to preface this, I'm not superstitious in the least bit... but...

I've been out of the country for the past couple of weeks... well the past 3 weeks to be exact, visiting family. As it turns out, not only have the Cowboys won the last 3 games, but they have been decisive wins. I haven't been able to watch a live game (other than the Monday night games) since I left, so I pretty much don't know what's going on till after all the games are played.

I have never been so happy to not be watching football. At home I have Sunday ticket and never miss a game, I've been riding the rollercoaster all season... but I have never been so terrified to go home, plop down on the couch and resume my Sunday ritual as I am right now.

I'll be back in New York on Wednesday and I'm giving some real though to doing anything other than watching Cowboy games for the rest of the season, despite how desperately I've wanted to watch these wins the past three weeks.

Am I being ridiculous?

At then end of the San Diego game, my staff gave me a Roy #38 Williams jersey. Not only was it an insult considering that the jersey was a bargain clearance sale item, but they gave it to someone who REALLY didn't like Roy the last few years after a Cowboys loss no less.

They knew by my reaction that I didn't want it. I don't play poker very well let's just say.

I got it home, and burned it in the ****ing bag it came in. Those things dont' really burn, but they melt and SMOKE a ton. Thick acrid black smoke. When it was through burning for the most part, I took a propane torch and burned the puddles of melted jersey until there was nothing left.

It wasn't that you were out of the country, it was that I sacrificed an authentic jersey for our success. Ruined my damn barbeque pit too.

You are jinxed, but the good news is that you can take counter measures to reverse the mojo.

You can watch the game live, provided that you do the following:

1. Light a candle during pregame warmups and make sure the candle remains burning for the entire game.

2. Place a globe between your chair and the televison. If you don't have a globe, you can place an atlas or map, open to the place that you were visiting for the past three weeks, on the floor between your chair and the television. The map should be oriented correctly (north on the map should be oriented so that it is facing north).

3. You must also secure some sort of photo or memorabilia associated with the opposing team - place it on your chair, and sit on it for the entire game (except during commercials, when you are allowed to walk to the kitchen or bathroom, provided that you walk backwards).

4. As far as clothing is concerned, you are limited to one pair of dark blue dress socks.

We have a very good friend who usually splits time between coming over to watch the games with us and watching with another group of our friends at the sports bar.

For the most part this season, every time he is here, we lose. When he's at the bar, we win.

The last game he was here was the Chargers game. Now he's on a self imposed hiatus from our house. "I miss you guys, but I gotta stay in another zip code until March."

:D

Well that seals it. I'm back in town and I skipped watching the game (DVR'd it) and what do you know, another win. The sacrifices I make for this team! How the heck am I ever going to be able to watch a Cowboy game live again?!?!

Whats funny is, the airline lost our bags (British Airways, I hate them so) so we had to go buy some clothes cause virutally all my underwear was in the bag since it was a long trip. Well we get to the store and I'm buying undershirts and stuff and for some reason the sock bin keeps grabbing my attention, took me a few minutes to remember this post and when I started laughing my fiance just stared at me wondering what was so funny about buying socks.
