Not sure if any of you know this but a loss tonight will not hurt us

The two teams we are chasing play each other this weekend. So that means

If we beat bears...we back in division race

If we lose to bears.....nothing changes or we get 6th seed if lions lose

So after Sunday will either be the 6th seed, in the same situation before tonight game or tied with the eagles with a chance to erase what happened on turkey day.

So the game that is a must win is next week against the eagles not tonight

That's good news.

Not correct. If we lose to Bears, and Seattle and Detroit win we are a full game behind each for a wildcard and still a game behind in the division. So not a 6 seed. There are scenarios where a loss tonight still allows us to be in the top 6 after Sunday but it is not a given.

We lose tonight, I think our chance of making the playoffs is about 25%, at most.

One slight nit. To have a legit shot at the division, we need to win tonight and have Philly lose to Seattle.

If Philly beats Seattle, even if we win, we would need Philly to lose to either the Giants or Commanders. That's not happening. Next week's game against Philly is largely irrelevant if Philly beats Seattle Sunday (again, unless you think they will drop a turd to the Giants or Skins). So tonight is pretty damn important for the division.

Furthermore, if we lose tonight and Seattle wins Sunday, we are now a game behind Philly in the division and a game behind Seattle for that WC spot.

So pretty much tonight is a must win IMO if you want the Cowboys to control their destiny.

But a loss changes nothing until next weekend. Either we are still in the exact same spot we are in right now, 6th seed if lions lose, or tied with eagles

Week 1.. Week 17, any scenario.. A LOSS ALWAYS HURTS.. I don't care if it's the last game of the season. Team has nothing to play for.. A loss still hurts.

After losing the way we did on Thanksgiving, then losing again tonight would be a disaster going back into Philadelphia next week. In this scenario, I think this team woud be toast, regardless of the seedings after this week.

But you are adding caveats.

If we lose tonight, which you claim is no big deal, but Seattle and Detroit win............. we are a game behind both for the WC spots and still a game behind Philly in the division. Even winning next week in Philly would still have us BEHIND the Eagles in the division because they would have teh better divisional record.

So no, you can't say losing tonight is no big deal. It is if certain other things go certain ways this Sunday.

If the Cowboys want to control their destiny, they must win tonight. Losing tonight then puts their playoff position coming out of this week in the hands of other teams.

That would be nice but I'm just saying a loss won't end our hopes of getting in the playoffs

You said a loss "will not hurt us".

That's wrong. A loss can hurt us if certain other games go certain ways. A loss tonight doesn't mean we can't make the playoffs, but then in that scenario, we need help from other teams, whereas if we win tonight, we can continue to control our destiny.

How if the Lions or Seahawks lose? Any loss after this game then we can say we are done.

If we lose and Detroit loses, we still don't have the 6th seed. Play with the generator some. You are also failing to account for three more weeks of teams above or just below us for that playoff spot, some of whom play each other....meaning some team won't lose ground on us. But, if we lose tonight, it is all but said and done due to not winning very many tie-breakers. This NFC game is very important..................
