"I think we've got a good feel for what we're looking at with him," Stephen Jones said. "He's definitely going to be at a minimum a PUP (Physically Unable to Perform list) guy (to start training camp). He'll miss six months from his time of surgery.

"This guy is one heck of a football player when he's healthy and we think he'll be healthy in time to maybe even to really help us this year at some point."

"This is a real statement in my mind with (defensive coordinator) Dan (Quinn) and (head coach) Mike (McCarthy) as to how we are going to address the run game when we get into the playoffs, which we are sure to have," Jones said. "Mike was sitting there all day going, 'Playoffs, playoffs. Remember the playoffs.' That really is not only a great pick, but he is also a heck of a competitor."

Just glad they did not take him with their second pick.
I can handle gambling on injured players just dont use premium picks on them.

Clarke had the surgery in march, so 6 months from then puts him at Sept/Oct timeframe.

If he comes back around week 8, that would be a huge bonus. Could help us on special teams and specific defensive packages.

Nothing wrong with a medical redshirt year for Clarke. If he happens to contribute this year— then that’s all gravy. I would just as soon let him recover slowly and get a year in the gym and get as strong and as healthy as possible heading into 2023

Loved the pick when we made it. A 5th rounder is more than reasonable to risk for the potential reward.
