Notes On Colts vs. Cowboys game (DEFENSE)

- I will first start off by saying that we played fair. Our starting defense needs to improve on the speed of getting to the quarterback. On the positive side the Cowboys did get enough pass rush to distract the quarterbacks.

(-) The defensive ends needs to rely more on technique and leverage to elevate their power.

(-) Joey Thomas and Keith Davis was the heros in the secondary.
(XO) Joey Thomas was a key in making plays by limiting field position and making plays by breaking up and intercepting the ball.

(XO) Keith Davis showed his awareness in getting an interception.

(-) Burrnett, Obomese, Long, Carpenter, Glymph, and Ware was the heros in the linebacker core.
(XO) Burnett showed alot on special teams and he showed a spark on defense.
(XO) Obomese showed that he can make plays on defense.
(XO) Long made some plays.
(XO) Carpenter laid a crushing blow down and didn't make any mistakes.
(XO) Glymph showed the team he could be a pass-rushing force as a valueable back-up linebacker on defense.
(XO) DeMarcus Ware has racked up on quarterback pressures (3).

(-) Bowen and Ratliff was the heros on the defensive line.
(XO) Bowen showed he want to step in the shoes of current Jet former Cowboy Kenyon Coleman.
(XO) Ratliff keep showing he could be that nose tackle that could possibly be a dominant pass rusher.

No just my comments on what I have seen in the game.... Remi Adoyle did play a big part in the game.....

I dont see what everyone else saw in Joey Thomas.

From my seat in the stadium he looked bad and when I got home and rewatched the game he looked just as bad to me.

the int he got was a gift, had the ball been thrown on time and accruately, thomas would have been toasted for a td to a 3rd string wr.

I am terrified of Joey Thomas making this team and having to play, I get the feeling he doesnt like contact either, he looked tentative when tackling.

Reeves is a good special team player and can play corner of safety. I would take jones or reeves over thomas at this point still.

Maybe thomas will get a chance to play against good competition and prove himself, but for me he is the guy that the media has built up at camp but really doesnt have a shot on this team.

Agreed, I thought that I saw a couple of times where he was beat and the WR just didn't get the ball for whatever reason. You or I could have made that INT...well maybe not you but me at least. :laugh2:
