If you really think all the injuries this team has had is ordinary for the NFL then we can't have a discussion. I don't know if Garrett is a good coach or not. I do know that Kiffin is and people who matter seem to think Marinelli is pretty good as well. In fact they have forgotten more football than anyone on this forum will ever know. Whether or not Kiffin's scheme will work or not is not even a question right now. He doesn't have a scheme to play what he should be running because he doesn't have the athletes to run much of anything well enough to judge anything.

In fact these defensive coaches have done a pretty good job even though this is the worse Cowboys' defense ever and one of the worst I've ever seen at pass defense. Without our very good TO ratio we'd probably have a few more losses. I won't deny that I also question some of the sideline stuff this year as I have before. Some make assumptions that if we'd just done this or that we'd have won more games. Well, you may be right but you might be wrong.

If all you look at is the bottom line then you're missing most of what's going on. If we lose maybe they all get fired. I hope Jerry looks at a lot more than that when it comes time to evaluate everything this year. And they will do that.

You are missing the point if you think that EVERY team doesn't deal with injuries. What is even more revealing is when they had no injuries...Sean Lee and all the fixings...we were still .500. It has made no difference. The Patriots probably dealt with more devastating losses than anyone this year and won. GB won a SB with 20 guys on IR. This is the 3rd year I've heard this excuse despite them underperforming when all starters were there. I don't get. They lost winnable games...Lions, Packers...that are on coaches and clinch a playoff spot. When you find ways to lose every year it isn't injuries. And if injuries is your yearly excuse then the GM and the coach with alleged power are doing a poor job at finding depth. Why draft TE and WR when you know you need Dline?

I'd be interested in hearing what NFL coaches and GM's think of Garrett. Might be surprised.

What struggling NFL team would be able to market him as a head coach "solution"? Serious question.

First of all i would liek to point out, they are probably talking about his coaching sense vs what they know of the sport. I am no fan of Garretts but if other people come out to defend him, its more of a defense for the state than it is him personally. Lets be fair here, as long as Dallas is mediocre, their teams get more attention, so they dont want to lose that fanbase. Lets not get ahead of ourselves and act like its a cordial thing, because you dont hear MLB coaches talking about football coaches and vice versa. But some cities and states carry a lot of teams, so they have to angle for every buck. NJ isnt like that because most of our teams either leave, threaten to leave, or bunch up.

I think its nice what they are doing, but they should steer clear of it, Garretts fate should be sealed by now and if its not, thats on Jerry, no one else.

in a bad division, say it isnt so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG, how he has piloted his way through great waters to reach this status game. Oh noes, you are telling me dallas is 10 -6 and might not make the play offs, or 8-7 and barely trying to squeak in. DOnt look now but Garrett is getting ready to get kicked out of the playoffs and lose the top spot of the division on the last game, Bring it on bro, hes the man.

and could still lose two spots in one game, when after having a few games locked up, Lordy how some fans will defend mediocrity to the ninth degree.

You need to look at the rosters of teams on one side of the ball. We have lost Bass, Crawford and Spencer early in the preseason. Ratliff was lost to injury. You can argue he wasn't injured but he said he couldn't play while he was here and never played. Ware is playing injured and right now Selvie is a better player. Lee is out and has been in and out of the defense. Durant is on IR. Carter has been injured with hamstring and not playing well. Sims is injured and has been in and out although I'm not certain that matters a lot except that he's a backup. Johnson never played. Wilcox was hurt and we had to bring a player up like Heath to start. Church has been out. Claiborne has missed a lot and when playing was subpar due to injury much of the time.

You have had numbers of players off the street play along the DL, LB and you've had players having to be on the field in the secondary like Hamilton and Webb who have no business playing anything but PS and maybe some STs.

Dismissing an injured Ware you have often had Hatcher, Church, Scandrick and Carr on the field as the only starters. And we didn't just lose starters but depth having to get players off the street, other teams PS, our PS, and the waiver wire.

All teams have injuries but I'm not buying our injuries on defense have been par of the NFL course the last two years. And it's not an excuse but it is a reality. And there are a little bit of sunshine that went with it....in the long run. And thank goodness for Selvie who isn't the best player on that defense but might be the most valuable to it; take him away and we get a good bit less pressure. Selvie was picked up off the street.

Show me a team that decimated on defense.

How are the patriots on injuries? and lets talk meaningful players compared to just a warm body. Some of our bodies wouldnt be on another teams defense. Yet we are using them on this one, so that doesnt count We cant go body for body. Show me a skill player vs a skill player, than we ll talk how one team was able to continue on and another stood on the sidelines confused.

Apparently not all the Mavs are impressed with the Cowboys. Dirk Nowitzki sat out a couple games the week of the Packers game and when asked how he was feeling had this to say

“I felt a lot better already come Sunday … until I watched the Cowboy game. Then I got sick, again.”

That just means he's a fan.

To be honest, I don't know. But feeling a certain way about a coach, and being able to market that to a fan base are two different things.

Let us think about it, how long did Landry go through the years without winning a SB?

Just saying..

Also let us think about the defenses we had the past 2 seasons.

Man if we had even an average defense this year we would be golden.

We need to fix both. Even with this bad defense, we should have had 2-3 more wins with an average HC. Our defense will likely be bad again next year and we need a coach that can do more to overcome it.
