Now is the time

Now is definitely the time, but it doesn’t necessarily mean that trading more picks for hugely paid vet players is the answer.

They have so many damn holes they need what little draft capital they have to hit, AND make significant use of FA.

Years of ineptitude aren’t going to be erased at once just because they’ve finally decided to actually try.
Well said, well said.

Fans: “You guys said “all in” and “bust the budget”. We want one ‘ribeye’, a ‘filet’ and a ‘NY Strip’.”

Schottenheimer, CP and Adams: “we hear you and that’s what we asked for. Jerry gave us his credit card and we went to the butcher. Unfortunately, all we could afford was some ‘flank steak’, an ‘eye of round’ and some ‘beef tongue’
Flank steak can be really good though. I'm guessing beef tongue is Kenneth Murray.

That’s the problem. They get to crap on the Cowboys 24x7 with no repercussions. Which is why I’m here. Repercussions. No one else has the intestinal fortitude to do it apparently. Just don’t dissuade me as you don’t dissuade them.
@Rockport , what would the repercussions be?
I hope it is not shunning. I am inquiring for a friend.

We have 0 money as of right now!
That's because Jethro doesn't need any. He freed up what he needed.

He will free up maybe another $30M and everyone will get excited for no reason.

Our current rookie class is projected at $13M, baring any trade downs.

We need approximately $8M heading into the season.

That will roughly leave $9M for Jethro to pick up a few veteran stop gaps.

And there you go folks there is the $96M in cap space everyone was all excited about creating.

Flank Steak can be good but Jerry would tell you it’s a ribeye

It’s no secret that having a great season starts with having great off-season. We have now entered the most important period of off-season. NOW is the time when great off-seasons are forged. Not in July. NOW through May.

In the next few weeks, we will see if our front office is serious when they say this year will be different. It won’t happen at a bus press conference, a radio show or impromptu interview at league meetings.

Our off-season will 100% be judged by the action (or inaction) of our FO starting NOW. If they give us another hide out on free agency, taking few chances in trades or cuts, and take another medical redshirt in the draft, we will know nothing has changed.

If they finally take action on a plan to get better through wise and meaningful FA and drafting immediate help in the draft, that’s a good step forward. We will see very soon.

Now is the time. Not for talk or bus press conferences. NOW is the time for action.
It’s funny, we can make a lot of room, but without long term deals to Pickens and Aubrey, that money gets sucked up quickly. We will definitely restructure or do extensions on Quinnen, Kenny and Osa which will bring 36m in space or more. Most likely Ferguson will get done for another $5m. Bland and Steele would bring another 17m, but I would only do them as a last resort. I’d rather cut Steele and get 8.75m in room to try and replace him.

I would personally cut Hooker and save another $7m.

I’d be looking for 2 or 3 starter level players in FA and 2 guys that can jump right in from the draft.

Osa could have be done immediately without his signature at the same time Dak, CD and Smith's were done. Then we heard he was in the trade negations for Crosby, then seemed like they trade to recant that for some reason.

The Cowboys were either not happy with his play last year, or do not think he is a fit for the new defense.

Their is no explanation of why he has not been restructured already.

I know how you feel and respect what your saying I don't see it as being Negative I see it as being truthful. I bought into the "All In " and when Jerry did what he did I was really PO and I didn't care if we won or loss I just went through the season like some with a bad attitude. Im a little cautious this time and yes Im hopeful cause Im a Cowboy fan. He did make the try for Max and I would have been Po if he would have given up two 1st so Im still slowly sitting back eating my popcorn just to see what he does. He doesn't have to sign Super stars but he needs to find guys that fit his system Guys that can come in and replace the guys we already have.

Last year was actually pretty good.

Javonte Williams 1201 yards 4.8 Y/A
George Pickens 93/1429
Tyler Booker 17 GS
Donovan Ezeirauku 9 GS 40 T 9 TFL
Quinnen Williams
Kenny Clark
Jadeveon Clowney 12 TFL 8.5 sacks

All added last year. Let's keep it going this year

Yeah every Cowboy fan has every right to say, “I will believe it when it happens.” That’s where I’ve been for years.

Everybody has that right.

I chose to say i dont even believe that they changed if they do the stuff you demand from them.

Why? Because i am 99% sure that they dont understand enough about management to understand the fundamental problems this franchise has. And so they are not able to change their approach in the right direction.

I do think i am right because 30 years of following Joneses decission making made me come to this conclusion.

If they this year do something that may make fans think: finally they understood. Finally they decided to follow the right track. Then this will only be because of lucky correlations. Not caused by reflection of what went wrong, understanding that and making the right decissions from now om going forward.

No Bob. I dont believe it even if i see it.

I will believe it when i listen to them. Hear their explanations why they did those decissions. And if they sound convincing, if they sound like "wow maybe they understood" then, after around 10 more years of the same reflective talk (together with those good and proving decissions) i will start to believe.

But as long as Booger had to threaten his journalists if he feels some preassure ? No i wont.

The guy is a disgusting, embarassing schmock. He will have to do a lot to change my mind.

I suppose if Jethro & Son do have a more active FA addressing our defense in particular we will have to provide them some props but ultimately the measurement will be how that translates in the season and throughout the playoffs.

Action alone isn’t enough. Results must be manifested.

And all of that contributed to a 7-9-1 season.

Ultimately the success on the field is the measurement.

With a last place defense. Let's see if the focus on defense pays off.
An offense without defense is a waste or at least poorly managed resources.

Time will tell if we focus enough on defense. Ultimately the results will determine.

But I’d argue our dysfunctional ownership appears to still operate as though the Triplets won those championships.

Why would you put yourself in this position?

I say this not out of sarcasm but out of care

You know the jones are going to do the same crap as every other year…….
