Now The Cowboys Need To Sign...

IMO, the Cowboys need to sign Flozell Adams, Hamlin, Canty and Marion The Barbarian, as soon as possible. I think each of these players deserve a new deal.

I could see the Cowboys giving Flo, an unrestricted freeagent, a two year deal with an option on the third. IMO, I would have no problem if it was a three year deal, right up front. Remember, Flo, is only 32, which is not that old for that position.

For Hamlin, Canty and Barber I could see each signing a five to six year deal which would probably have each retire as a Cowboy!:

Do you really think Flo is going to give us a Cowboys special when it comes time to re-sign him? He's going to want BIGG money and he knows this may be his last contract.

There's no way he's giving us a 2 year discount, only to be left out on the streets when he's considered too old.

If we sign Flo, it will be for near market price. Don't expect anything less and don't delude yourselves into thinking we're going to re-sign our Pro Bowl LT for cheap.

Flo will have to be re-signed for at or around market price.

I think we will end up doing that, unless the staff is really high on D Free or McQuisten to take Flo's spot (which could be the case, but it's hard to know).

MB3 and Canty are restricted so no real rush.. we can make both of them first round tenders to protect ourselves... while i would hate to lose them, imagine having 4 first rounders!!! Flo will not be cheap but we will have to bite the bullet, pro bowl LT's don't grow on trees.

Frankly said, if/when we re-sign Hamlin and Flo, I think all of our 2007 starters will be signed for 2008.

I'm assuming our unrestricted FAs aren't going anywhere (i.e., Barber) because we will give them a high tender.

Actually, if you sit back and think about it, if we do re-sign Flo and Hamlin, and then all of our starters this year are effectively re-signed for next year, JJ and Stephen have done a great job.

I hear you my friend. That is why I said no more than three years. If he wants more than three years, let him walk. Remember, we still can tag him with franchise tag!

I just hope that one of the options not being considered is moving Leonard Davis to Tackle.

Barber has been a touchdown machine the last two years.

I can easily see him being tendered a first and maybe even more if he doesn't get a long term deal.

Honestly, I think I would just rather Franchise Tag him for one year and see if McQ and Free are ready to take over in 2009.

Heck, it's gonna be pricie for one year, but at least we're not stuck with a long term investment on an aging player.

I don't think Flo would mind the Franchise Tag considering his 2008 salary would be somewhere around $10 mil. Mama mia.

Time to let Flo go like we did with LA and let one of the kids take over. Flo only really plays well in contract drive years. With the money he will ask for, we could use it to sign one of our younger players to an extension. Better to leave a year early then a year late with a large signing bonus hanging over our heads...

That's an unpopular POV, but I'm sort of in agreement. Flo is going want BIGG money and he's not a young lad anymore.

We simply can't pay top dollar for age.

Though, if we can keep him (Franchise Tag) him for a year or two, it may be worth it. He'll get his big dollars and we won't be tied down long term with a killer signing bonus.

I think it's time we prepare to move on without Flo.

Flo is old, but some team will offer him a huge deal we won't match. And the franchise OL tag is expensive.

I'd bet they let Flo leave and move Leonard Davis to LT.

Personally, I'd rather see them Free or McQuistan a chance to take the job.

Or we use the Draft and take an OT high.

But I still think we'll re-sign him for a couple of years.

I think the questions should be:

Do we overpay Flo to protect Tony's butt?

How many sacks has Flo given up? How many times has Tony taken a direct hit in his back?

Just throwing it out there...

Actually, I was wondering the same thing, how many sacks has Flo given up this season? I bet it's close to 0.
