Nugget: Flores can officially talk to other teams about the DC role starting next Wed

This^^^^^^ I'll be happy with Leonhard but this guy is now my first choice.
He also worked under Zimm......
And we won't need to worry about him getting poached in 1 or 2 years. . We need stability on defense, not more change in a year or two. For me, give me him or Karl Scott up in Seattle. This Banda guy at Cleveland, also is very interesting the more I study him. He's worth a look and a deep dive.

Funny you should mention this ..........even Jerry, finally we can't keep changing DC's every year or two.

Check this out. He goes through his journey to the NFL. You get a good feel for him as a coach, what’s important to him and where his focus lies, which seems to really zero in on identifying what what individual players want and need and how he can coach them to get there

Yep, exactly. You know it's getting so obvious a blind person could see it.. lol. I'D LITERALLY be ok with Banda getting a shot , or anyone else as long as they bring a long-term template to install that players can thrive in. What I don't want is a retread that's been there done that.

Also was DC for LSU and even coached in the CFL
I know Jim Leonard is getting all the hype but this Jones guy is impressive maybe moreso. Also, if you look into Karl Scott in Seattle, you will find the same similarities.

I will be honest, I'm surprised Payton is letting anyone talk to Leonhard until VJ's head coaching situation is much clearer.

Keep in mind he's a DB/secondary guy........and what were the areas Stephen Jones called out as defensive priorities this week, secondary and LBers. Hire him, keep Whitecotton.

It will be interesting to see if he even takes DC interviews.

So far the only team to show interest is Baltimore, whom he interviewed with this week. The Ravens have the best opening available so there will be a lot of competition

Last year he interviewed with the Jets and Jaguars but wasn’t hired.

I’m afraid the league may be showing, again, their hesitancy to pursue Flores due to his lawsuit.

No one should be surprised if he just re-ups with the Vikings should the Ravens select someone else.

It has always been a longshor that Jerry, of all people, would be interested in someone who refused to tank games or tamper with players when commanded.

The Dolphins owner and the team were disciplined (fines and draft picks) by the league for both, but not until after they fired Flores, which resulted in the law suit.
Jerry of all people shouldn't bat an eye at a lawsuit against the league. Hes well versed in such.

That said, when Flores gets hired does that not damage his own suit?

Can't really prevent him from talking to other teams. Hes not a DC. But they can throw more money at him, coupled with a better Job title.

I listened to not even a minute and stopped it. I'm sold. Guy sounds exactly like what we need.

I still think the raiders are a very real probability for Flores and I’d assume while there’s been no formal interview yet- I’d bet Brady and Davis are doing back door due diligence to see if there is interest and they likely want a tandem as reported of Flores /daboll

Likely see who they could get on board if they go that way while also doing feelers for harbaugh

There’s no way to know which candidates will actually work in the circus that is the Dallas Cowboys. But conducting a normal business interview improves the odds. Candidates should be asked things like existing player evaluations, what you need to be successful, how do motivate a player that’s already got the bag, what they see as their biggest failure, what did they learn from that, etc. I have zero confidence Jerry will conduct in depth interviews.

This guy is a baller - he’s a head coach and Damn I wish he was ours with Jim Leonhard and my DC and Mike ‘McDaniel as my OC.
And of course in my utopia Troy Aikman would be my team President and he’d have chosen a GM for us.
Troy is Cowboys’ royalty but I wouldn’t not want him around as GM. He has been wrong a lot.

This defense has been so soft, for so long, that its gonna take a psycho coach to change the narrative here.

Hire this lunatic, Jerry!
A lunatic like Kris Richards? Posters were all excited about him because he screamed and cussed at players when he got here, but were wanting him to walk the plank after a couple of years.

He's a .500 head coach with no playoffs in his brief stint in Miami. He has earned another chance but he doesn’t deserve the don't let him leave town treatment the media and fans want to give him.
