The Oakland Raiders' offseason went from curious, probably disappointing, to a flat out debacle.
Offensive lineman Rodger Saffold, the team's big free-agent acquisition at $42.5 million, failed his physical and his contract was voided. The team announced that, according to many Bay Area beat reporters. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Raiders had concerns about his shoulder.
The Rams, who were Saffold's team his first four years, had no such concerns (there are no set standards for NFL physicals) and almost immediately after the Raiders' announcement agreed with Saffold on a five-year deal.
