Oakland Raiders cut QB Tyler Wilson, their fourth-round pick in this year’s draft

The Raiders can't afford to blow draft picks. They're in the middle of the deepest rebuilding projects in the league, and with so much dead cap space, they needed to hit on draft picks.
Instead, they've already cut a fourth-round pick before he even plays a regular-season game.

Quarterback Tyler Wilson's drop is shocking. Before he came back for his final season at Arkansas he was considered a possible top 10 NFL draft pick. He struggled as a senior, fell to the fourth round and now he's out of a job after the lowly Raiders cut him. Pro Football Talk was the first to report that news.

The idea to take a shot on a quarterback in the fourth round was smart for the Raiders. But Wilson was so bad he's looking for a job already.

Despite being praised during minicamps (kids, let's remember this next year when observers are going crazy over rookies in meaningless practices), Wilson plummeted quickly in training camp. He was well behind undrafted Matt McGloin in the preseason.

The raiders are a train wreck. Clowney might as well start looking for an apartment. They may go 0-16

Maybe that is why Clowney didn't look so great in his first game. He wants to fall a spot or two and miss out on going to Oakland.

If Pryor is not really good this year, they will either trade out of the 1st overall pick or take a QB....maybe Bridgewater.

The Raiders need to move to LA and get it over with.

I don't think the Raiders have purged nearly enough of Al Davis' influence for anything to change much within that organization.

He left the Raiders in a poor cap situation and with few draft picks. It pretty much is all his fault or at least a majority of his fault. The new regime still needs to make good choices and so far it isn't looking great, but they are limited in what they can do due to the mess Davis left them.

Come on, they draft a fourth round QB and cut him before the preseason ends, no way has that go anything to do with a guy that has been dead for 23 months. Haven't they had like two coaching changes since his passing?

I wonder if when Jerry dies will the blame still live on with him...

I am not blaming the Tyler pick and cut on Al Davis, but the organization is still hampered by many of the decisions he made before passing on. They could have hired the best GM and head coach and would still have an uphill battle to overcome the condition Davis left the franchise. And who they did hire probably are not the best GM and head coach.
