I don't think it was a fumble but it does not matter whether or not it hit the ground. If he had possession and then it was knocked up in the air and caught it would have been a fumble.

The question is about possession. Did he catch it or not. The fact that it did not hit the ground is completely irrelevant.

I do understand that if he had possession of it and then it came out it would of been a fumble but they are saying he didn't have possession of it so it would be incomplete except that it didn't hit the ground so that means it was like a tipped ball and int.

as far as did the refs make a mistake? well he barely and I mean barely put his feet down and it flew out so it was close.

There was a play with Dez that was almost identical to the "Dez rule" discussion last year. Dez took like 3 steps but while getting tackled he lost the ball. It was ignored but I was going crazy. The rule stinks.

Same with that reversal on the Giants TE. It was as much a catch as Dez', but according to the stupid rule it had to be overturned. I give JG a lot of credit for challenging after losing the first one.

A fumble can be recovered in the air without hitting the ground.

This is true but from my viewpoint it looked like he had possession and made a football move. Either way, if it was a fumble or INT it still would've resulted in a turnover. Only result that would've changed is I guess Romo's stats would've looked better.

They were actually ruled the exact same. OBJ was incomplete and so was Street's (to Street anyway) - Streets just never hit the ground.

Yeah you must 've really be drunk lol. It was picked off and not fumbled. Never hit the ground.

I think the argument you might be sort of confusing was the play......I can't remember exactly myself but the Cowboys had to use their last challenge to get it overturned. How the refs didn't catch that was kind of annoying to me. I thought both teams got hosed by the refs.

The play your talking about is the Dez catch by Donnell that we had to use a challenge on. That was really upsetting. Especially after all the hoopla about it in the offseason. And yes, i was very drunk lol

Dez also had a play where he took several steps, went to the ground and lost the ball.

I kept expecting a challenge but it never came.

It was a perfect test case to the number of steps taken not mattering if he goes to the ground during the catch.

Here is my question about that play. Why after the interception was the DL allowed to drill Romo from behind? I know Collinsworth made the point that they can hit him if he's going after the play, but shouldn't that be an illegal block in the back at the least? He clearly hit Romo in the back and never made any attempt to pretend otherwise. So why isn't that a penalty?

Not only that, but they gave Romo an int for the Street fumble.
Talk about a misleading stat.

Can someone explain to me why one was called and one wasnt? I really didnt see any difference between the plays. I was a little intoxicated so maybe i missed something, but after the JJ hit i thought was a fumble the play with Street looked very similar and i dont understand why one was called and one wasnt. Enlighten me please
They were both called the exact same way.

The ball never touched the ground on the pass to Street. Ball went from his hands directly into Giants players hands.

Then why rule that against Dez with the catch in Green bay? Ball never touched the ground

The reversal on the giants was nothing like Dez catch in Green bay. Giant player never had control of the ball. Dez meanwhile caught the ball over the DB, switched hands, took 3 steps, dive for the endzone.
