I couldn't take a whole lot about the Cowboys during the game because it seemed that every other play I was just dwelling on how the NFL is completely ruining their product. A new fantasy football format should just record penalty yardage, it would have more scoring than regular ff. You could even have a variation-point per penalty league.

Actually Jeff Heath made that play.

Some random observations - the highlight for me, bar none, was Ken Bishop chasing the ball carrier down from behind. The horsecollar was a mistake but i absolutely love to see that kind of hustle from a rookie DT.

ooooo... I had forgotten about that but I remember thinking... "He just made the team" and the penalty was a good one when you think about he saved a touchdown. If those are his choices, I'll take the penalty every time. Honestly tho, that was the thing I was able to take away from my pre-draft evaluation of him. This young man has a motor that doesn't stop. Loved it.

Offense was most definitely vanilla. I think Linehan purposefully only called high percentage passing plays. Conservative and no risk.

Yeah. Wouldn't want to take any unnecessary risks in a blow out preseason game.

Defense will suck this year. Hopefully the offense will be able to carry

It was a blowout because both D and the O played not to lose. Preseason or not, still see Callahan's short passing game instead of Linehan's stretch the D style of offense.

I don't think the Cowboys care. Heck, its preseason. Thus they sat out most of their starters and got their 1st stringers off the field asap. They just wanted to see what the others can do and cannot do. Nothing more. This was a worthless game that won't register in the W-L column.

I understand that starters were being protected, but even as a fan, I can't stomach not even trying to win, preseason or not. Not letting your players have chance, scrubs or not, to show their best. San Diego's scrubs kicked our scrubs ace, and that pisses me off.

What? Lol.

Yes, let's dismiss everything on account of it being a part of the game plan.

This is what bothered me the most tonight.

Lol
I just don't get the negative comment
You are so impatient
Garrett is building the DL
5 years from now we have the potential to maybe possibly have a halfway decent DL

Everyone slowly remove those hands off the panic button please.

I've heard that adage too many times in reference to this awful defense.

Benefit of the doubt has left town.

I know all about who was out there and who was not.

But this defense does nothing well.

Dude, you really need to start paying attention to what other posters actually say instead of coloring in mental pictures in crayon.

I've been critical of the defense and the DL for the last three seasons. This is why we lose games, and diverting resources from addressing it while we fill positions that can be more readily filled with less significant resources has been expensive.

It's not just a simple game of criticizing everything or criticizing nothing. It's criticizing the right things that's difficult. But then, building a competitive NFL franchise is supposed to be difficult.

Give the dude time, u are so impatient

yeah, give him 5 or 6 more years and he actually might have a good D built.

What are u not understanding? I am not dismissing anything, I thought the offensive gameplan stunk. Other than Vaughn doing a couple of Romo-lite impressions extending plays, the offense was still based on the predictable underneath passing game which even the 3rd string corners figured out and were jumping routes or the Cowboys were still throwing on 3rd and short. What happened to more focus on running the ball and Linehan opening up the passing game?

I expected the D to struggle, I expected more from the O instead of the same old same old, 1st preaseason game or not I expected us to be more competitive especially on offense.
